A Woman Worth Billions Dated the Wrong Brother novel Chapter 304

Amber POV

The moment I saw Jason’s blood test, I knew I had made the right decision by calling Emory.

A few hours later, Mr. Stait arrived at the castle as well. Between him, Emory, Marcus, Grandfather, and the Suns,. we finally had everyone we trusted gathered in one place.

We agreed not to tell the children the truth.

Not yet.

Mrs. Sun gently explained to Alice, Alex, Rose, and Iris that Jason wasn’t feeling well and needed plenty of rest. They accepted the explanation, although Alex kept looking toward the second floor with obvious concern.

Once the children had gone to bed, we gathered in Jason’s office.

Emory rested both hands on the table before speaking.

“I’m sorry.”

“There still isn’t a counteragent for this drug.”

The room became painfully quiet.

“We’ve managed to help previous victims recover naturally, but Jason’s case is… different.”

He slid another report toward me.

“The concentration in his bloodstream is unlike anything we’ve documented before.”

“I don’t know what long-term effects such a high dose may have.”

I slowly closed my eyes.

This had the Vinnys written all over it.

Either Monica was working for them…

Or she had somehow stumbled onto Jason after he had already been drugged.

Neither possibility made me feel any better.

Marcus quietly repeated everything Jason had confessed before collapsing into that confused state.

When he finished, Emory leaned back in his chair.

“The timeline actually tells us something important.”

We all looked at him.

“The drug generally takes about thirty minutes before the suggestive effects begin.”

He looked directly at me.

“Jason wasn’t drugged after Monica arrived.”

“He was drugged before.”

I frowned.

Which means…

Emory nodded.

“He was drugged while you were out shopping with Pamela.”

A wave of guilt crashed into me.

If I hadn’t left… 1

If I had stayed with him…

Would this have happened?

As though reading my thoughts, Emory shook his head.

“No.”

“This wasn’t your fault.”

“They planned this.”

“They waited until they knew he’d be alone.”

I nodded slowly, although the guilt refused to disappear.

Marcus then repeated something else Jason had told him.

How he hadn’t immediately believed Monica.

How he had questioned her.

How he had hesitated.

Emory looked genuinely surprised.

“That’s… remarkable.”

“Why?”

I asked.

He folded his arms.

“Most victims exposed to this drug don’t question the suggestion.”

“They accept it almost immediately.”

He looked toward the bedroom where Jason was sleeping.

“For Jason to hesitate…”

“For him to resist…”

“…even briefly…”

Emory smiled faintly.

“It means part of him was fighting.”

he drug wasn’t enough to completely overcome his trust in you.”

Tears immediately filled my eyes.

Even drugged…

Jason had still tried to believe me.

I took a deep breath and opened my laptop.

“If we’re going to find who did this…”

“We start at the beginning.”

I accessed Sun Corporation’s security system.

Every office.

Every hallway.

Every entrance.

I selected the recordings from the moment Pamela and I had left the building.

It didn’t even take ten minutes.

“There.”

I froze the image.

A young woman walked calmly into Jason’s office carrying a cup of coffee.

I recognized her immediately.

“The receptionist.”

One of Sun Corporation’s receptionists.

Jason barely looked up from his paperwork.

“Thank you,” he said before taking a small sip.

The woman smiled politely and walked away.

I immediately switched cameras.

Following her through the building.

She never returned to her desk.

Instead, she calmly exited the building.

Crossed the street.

Entered a black sedan waiting nearby.

Five minutes later…
