A Woman Worth Billions Dated the Wrong Brother novel Chapter 269

Twenty years too early

Amber POV

The pregnancy reveal somehow created more chaos than the adoption.

Which was saying something.

One moment everyone was congratulating us, the next the children had questions.

Many questions.

Far too many questions.

The first one came from Alex.

Naturally.

We were gathered in one of the castle’s living rooms when he suddenly looked at Jason and me suspiciously.

“Wait.”

The room became quiet.

Alex narrowed his eyes.

“You lied.”

Jason blinked.

“What?”

“You said the baby plan was in two years.”

Silence.

I immediately remembered the conversation.

Unfortunately, so did Jason.

Alex crossed his arms.

“You specifically said two years.”

A pause.

“You had charts.”

Jason looked horrified.

“Why do you remember that?”

Alex looked offended.

“Because I helped make the charts.”

Mrs. Sun burst out laughing.

Grandfather Asher nearly choked on his tea.

Rose buried her face in a pillow.

Ms looked like she wanted to disappear.

Alex pointed accusingly at us.

“It has not been two years.”

“No.”

“It has barely been months.”

“Also true.”

“So what happened?”

The room exploded with laughter.

Even Jason couldn’t keep a straight face.

Mrs. Sun was wiping tears from her eyes.

“Oh, sweetheart.”

Alex looked confused. 1

“What?”

Mrs. Sun patted his shoulder.

“Sometimes life ignores plans.”

Alex didn’t look convinced.

Grandfather laughed loudly.

“Trust me, boy. If life followed plans, none of us would be here.”

That somehow made Alex even more suspicious.

Fortunately, Alice solved the problem.

“So we’re getting a baby?”

Everyone turned toward her.

Alice grinned.

“A real baby?”

“Yes.”

Alice looked delighted.

Then she pointed dramatically at Mrs. Sun.

“You already built the school.”

Mrs. Sun looked proud.

ou already built the baby section.”

Mrs. Sun looked even prouder.

Alice turned toward us.

“So Grandma was preparing.”

Mrs. Sun laughed.

“I absolutely was.”

The entire room laughed again.

Grandfather stood and walked toward me.

For a moment I thought he was going to make a joke.

Instead, his eyes became suspiciously shiny.

Then he hugged me.

Tightly.

“I’m proud of you, darling.”

My throat tightened.

“Grandpa…”

He kissed my forehead.

“You have no idea how happy this makes me.”

For a brief moment, I saw not the terrifying head of Asher Corporation.

Not the businessman.

Not the strategist.

Just a grandfather.

A grandfather who loved his family.

Mr. Sun cleared his throat.

“Do we know if it’s a boy or a girl?”

The question immediately caught everyone’s attention.

Even Alice.

Especially Alice.

I laughed.

“We haven’t even had an ultrasound.”

Silence.

Everyone stared.

“What?”

Mrs. Sun looked horrified.

“Amber.”

“We only found out recently.”

“You need an appointment.”

“I know.”

“Immediately.”

“I know.”

Jason looked amused.

Mrs. Sun looked ready to personally drag us to a hospital.

I sighed.

“We don’t know how far along I am.”

That somehow made everyone even more concerned.

At least one thing was now certain.

The rumors about Jason had been completely false.

That alone was worth celebrating.

The next morning I was in my office when my phone rang.

Mrs. Sun.

That was never a good sign.

I answered immediately.

“What happened?”

She sounded annoyed.
