There was still no match found after the testing. That left only two candidates on the list. And Skylar was one of them.
Joseph checked the time before calling Jenna. Once she confirmed she could talk, he got straight to the point. "Get Skylar's samples to my clinic by midnight."
"Joseph, I'm really busy…"
"Is 'busy' just your excuse for being incompetent?"
"You! Just you wait! You're really backing me into a corner here! You're such a jerk!"
Jenna hung up on him. After she thought for a moment, a place came to mind, and she immediately started working out a plan.
Joseph waited for Katie to come into work, then the two of them drove out to the suburbs for Richard's follow-up appointment.
They headed back not long afterward, but Joseph fell asleep in the car. Katie, feeling bad for him, pulled over and let him get some proper rest.
When Cora arrived at the Traditional Medicine Center, she got the rundown on Yara's treatment from Arthur before heading to Yara's room.
Yara dismissed her caregiver so she could speak with Cora alone.
Seeing Yara still propped up in bed receiving treatment, Cora said, "Dr. Geller didn't tell me the whole truth. You told him to keep his mouth shut, didn't you?
"You're using Joseph's treatment plan for Wesley, so how could it not be working at all?"
Yara let out a scoff. "You think your husband is some kind of saint? He wants me dead, so why would he ever want to help me get better?"
"You shouldn't be so prejudiced against him. You hurt our daughters. As a father, he has every right and reason to go after you.
"And as for the two of us, if we weren't business partners, I never would've risked pissing him off to get you his treatment plan."
"But you still pissed him off anyway. Aren't you worried he'll resent you?"
Yara was deeply displeased, her eyes filled with disdain for Cora. However, since she still needed Cora to get Joseph to treat her, she had no choice but to swallow her pride for now.
"Joseph is a very reasonable man. As long as you give him a good enough explanation, he'll forgive you."
"We'll see."
Yara swore on the inside that she'd never lower herself to that lowly, despicable bastard named Joseph.
With the business sorted out, Cora had the finance department handle the incoming funds and took off.
She ran into Jenna by the elevators. She tried to say hello, but Jenna hurried past as if she hadn't seen her at all.
Cora figured Jenna was just rushing off to save a patient. It was normal to tune everything else out in an emergency.
What she didn't know, however, was that Jenna had just gotten her hands on the sample Joseph wanted.
