A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 233

Chapter 233

When Joseph arrived at his office, he received a call from Cora almost immediately. He hesitated for a moment before taking the call.

He spoke first. “Stop using Kim to interfere with my work, and don’t let her get caught up in our divorce. I hope today’s the first and last time.”

“Kim just misses you, that’s all. You know she likes you best, and at home, she listens to you more than anyone else.

“You haven’t been home in a few days too, so I thought I’d let her see you for a bit. She misses you, that’s all,” Cora explained gently.

“Kim will eventually have to get used to a life without me. What you’re doing now is pointless. Cora, stop using our daughters to get to me. We should quickly file for divorce too.”

“Honey, let’s not get a divorce…”

“Did you really think I’d agree to your mom’s ridiculous plan and accept your infidelity, living the way we used to? Don’t be so shameless! Cora, I don’t want your money at all. All I want is a divorce.”

“No way.”

“You’re impossible. You’re so unreasonable!” Joseph ended the call.

Joseph was starting to get the idea that Cora refused to divorce because she was the richest person in Jenton. With wealth and power at her disposal, she seemed to think she could bend the truth to her will and ignore the facts.

Joseph almost lost his composure again. It took several cigarettes before he finally calmed down.

There was a knock on the door, and Dave and Theodore came into Joseph’s office. They were there to talk about Frank’s treatment plan with Joseph.

Joseph had reviewed Theodore’s credentials and areas of expertise before adjusting his approach. He even decided to stop meddling in Frank’s case.

In his opinion, Theodore’s treatment plan seemed a little aggressive and was bound to fail. Still, Joseph decided to let him proceed and entrusted Frank’s case to him entirely.

Theodore asked, “Didn’t the higher-ups ask us to treat Frank together?”

Since Rosalie had no income, even an additional 100 dollars was already a huge burden for her.

Joseph thought about it for a moment before taking them to check out Frank’s property near Brooke’s school. It was a three-bedroom high-rise in an excellent school district. It was fully renovated and furnished, with all utilities and kitchen appliances in place. They could move in at any time.

Seeing how much Rosalie and Brooke loved the place, Joseph let them stay there for now.

Brooke became anxious. She was worried Joseph might change his mind, so she went back that night to move everything in.

On the first night, Brooke and Rosalie still shared a bed.

However, Brooke had other ideas.

“Mom, this guy is a real catch. He’s a bachelor too. You can’t let him slip away. I hope one day he can become my dad so we’ll always be taken care of.”
