Chapter 231
Naturally, Joseph had gone over to Brooke and Rosalie’s house. Even crashing on someone else’s couch felt much more peaceful than being at home.
In the middle of the night, after making sure Brooke was fast asleep, Rosalie came out and woke Joseph up, offering to please him with her hands.
Joseph was rendered speechless at her offer. If he really wanted a woman, it wasn’t like he couldn’t find one. He just wanted to rest somewhere no one knew him-somewhere his friends and family couldn’t track him down.
Joseph didn’t consider himself a saint either. He told Rosalie he didn’t want her to use only her hands. He wanted to go all the way, including using her mouth. His request was enough to make her back off.
Joseph made Rosalie promise one more thing. From now on, she wasn’t to wake him up unless there was an emergency. Then he went back to sleep.
Rosalie couldn’t make sense of Joseph. To her, he didn’t seem like a bad guy, which was why she had offered to please him with her hands. However, he actually asked to sleep with her and even made some disgusting demands.
Rosalie felt she should at least pleasure him after taking his money.
Once she was back in her room, she slapped herself and scolded herself for being so shameless. Did she really see herself as some cheap woman?
The next day, when Joseph arrived at the hospital, he found Kimberly already in his office. She threw herself into his arms, calling him “Dad” over and over again.
A ripple of emotion surged through him again, followed by a dull ache. Cora was such a cruel, despicable woman!
Joseph sat Kimberly down in a chair and asked, “How did you get here? Who sent you here? Why aren’t you at school?”
From Kimberly’s voice and demeanor, he could tell she wasn’t sick. Since it wasn’t the weekend, she should be at school.
“Mom brought me here. She told me not to go to school and to follow you instead. Wherever you go, I’ll go too.”
Joseph knew Cora had been behind this. Once again, he was reminded of her cruelty, irrationality, and her stubborn refusal to change.
“Cora calls the shots. Anyway, you can’t leave.” Helen got in Joseph’s way.
Joseph pushed open the door to Bernard’s study and got straight to the point. “You really won’t let me leave, huh? Well, don’t regret it.
“Last year, you wanted to secure the Bubble Bay project, so you arranged for a woman to be sent to the person-in-charge. You even bribed him with 20 million dollars. If you really won’t let me leave, I’ll report this to Jenton authorities.”
At his words, Bernard was taken aback. He slammed his fists on the table, rose to his feet, and pointed at Joseph, “Joseph, you… You’re really ungrateful, aren’t you? Get out of here now!”
Joseph said, “I just want an amicable divorce and don’t want anything more to do with you. Why can’t you even agree to something so simple?
“If you can’t even control Cora, that means you’ve failed as her parents. She also once told me she’d rather be a widow than get divorced.
“Well, I’d like you to pass on a message to her. I’ll get this divorce, even if it kills me!”
