When They Beg I Rise (Lemira) novel Chapter 1069

Asher couldn't believe a reporter had the audacity to ask such a humiliating question on camera.

The rest of the press pack eagerly jumped in. "Mr. Langston, why isn't the driver's daughter here today? Is she hiding out of guilt?"

"Mr. Langston, rumors state she's pregnant with a Langston child. Who in your family was blind enough to sleep with the enemy's daughter?"

The relentless barrage of questions turned the brothers' faces a deep, furious shade of red.

Asher and Evander, in particular, looked like they wanted the ground to swallow them whole.

Lucian quickly stepped up to handle the PR disaster. "Ladies and gentlemen, we were entirely in the dark. We had no idea about the true nature of the car crash, which is why we took the driver's daughter in."

A reporter aggressively pushed back. "Is that your excuse for violently neglecting your own sister in favor of an outsider?"

Lucian's expression tightened. "We aren't making excuses. We fully acknowledge our catastrophic mistakes, and we are actively working to make amends."

"How exactly do you plan to make amends? Are you just going to throw a hollow apology at her and expect her to move on?"

The reporter's hostile interrogation left Lucian struggling for words.

He shot the journalist a piercing glare. Shouldn't they be focusing on the murder trial instead of drilling them on family gossip?

It was blatantly obvious they were trying to publicly humiliate the Langstons.

But with the entire city watching, he couldn't afford to lose his temper.

Lucian forced a diplomatic tone. "We will be taking concrete, tangible actions to compensate her. You can rest assured on that front. Lemira is our only sister, and we intend to give her everything she deserves."

Chapter 1069 2

Asher stammered, clearly defensive. "I-I didn't say we shouldn't compensate her. But you can't just write a blank check on national television! What if she demands the entire Langston estate?"

"If giving her the entire estate is what it takes for her to forgive us, I say we sign it over. We're all family, right? Isn't that the exact line you used to drill into our heads?"

Alaric nodded emphatically. "He's right. We failed her on every conceivable level. If we don't give her everything we have, how are we supposed to face Mom and Dad in the afterlife?"

Chapter 1069 3

Asher had built his corporate dominance through blood, sweat, and tears; there was no way he was going to just hand it over.

If Lemira had shown even an ounce of gratitude or warmth, he might have considered it. But she treated him like garbage. Why should he bleed his accounts dry for someone who despised him?

Realizing he was outnumbered by Caspian and Alaric, Asher turned to the only person with real leverage. "Rowan, what's your stance on this?"
