Seeing the terror on Lemira's face, Rowan lowered his eyes to hide a flash of pain. "Forget I asked if you're against it," he murmured.

Lemira pulled herself back to reality, reminding herself that this life was different.

She cleared her throat. "I'll have to discuss this with Orion. There's still plenty of time anyway. If Amanda's recovery goes smoothly, there won't be any need to visit the facility."

Either way, she refused to go.

Caspian touched his scarred cheek. "I deserved it. Thank God Lemmy was smart enough to get out of the way. If she had been the one hurt, I'd regret it for the rest of my life."

Asher clamped his mouth shut. The guy had lost his mind.

Alaric looked at Asher. "Don't forget who rebuilt the company's firewall and system for you, Asher."

Asher shifted uncomfortably. "I didn't mean anything by it. We've been practically begging for her forgiveness, but her attitude hasn't warmed up at all."

Lemira's expression grew complicated. "But when Evander finds out, he's going to hate you."

Lucian's eyes turned icy. "But once the trial is over, I'll tell him everything. I'll throw her out myself. That woman will never disgust this family again."
