When I Flash-Married a Billionaire, My Ex Went on a Hunger Strike novel Chapter 62

There was no way White-Coat Deity could be Louis.

Louis was the kind of man who exuded power and precision—a true capitalist through and through.

The idea of him casually trading stocks in a group chat with amateur investors was laughable.

And a man like him didn’t exactly radiate compassion, let alone the heart of a healer.

If Louis hadn’t left her with such a terrible impression, she wouldn’t have lashed out at White-Coat with such disrespect.

It was her own bias, fueled by that one man.

Madame Lee: Miles, try adding him back. Tell him I’d like to apologize.

Miles: Alright, I’ll give it a shot.

A few minutes later, Miles returned to the group chat.

Miles: I called him, but he said he’s not rejoining. He told me work’s been hectic and he’s stepping away from the market for a while.

Adora frowned.

Was he really that petty?

Did she need to apologize in person?

She hesitated.

However, the guilt lingered, knowing she'd overstepped with someone whose expertise had literally saved a life.

So, she messaged Miles again.

Madame Lee: Do you have his contact?

Miles: Yeah. I added him back when I was trying to get help for my niece.

He sent over White-Coat’s contact.

Adora stared at the number for a few seconds, then sent a friend request.

In the note, she typed: This is Madame Lee. I’m here to offer a formal apology.

She fully expected him to ignore it.

But to her surprise, the request was accepted a moment later.

A little embarrassed, she reminded herself she was in the wrong and decided to be straightforward about it.

Madame Lee: I’m sorry, White-Coat. My comments earlier were out of line. I heard what you did for Miles’s niece—it was really touching, and honestly, incredible.

On the other end of the screen, Louis glanced up from a medical journal he was reading.

A faint smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth.

White-Coat: Just doing my job.

Adora raised an eyebrow.

He was still as cold as ever.

Madame Lee: You should come back to the group. If you don’t, I’ll be carrying the blame all by myself.

Taking advantage of the fact that the Matthews family hadn’t returned from the hospital yet, she headed out to the shared bathroom for a shower, then got ready for bed.

As she lay down, she felt a dull ache on the lower right side of her abdomen.

She did a quick mental count—her period was probably coming soon.

For the past three years, she didn’t know why, but every time her period was approaching, the pain in her lower abdomen would start two or three days in advance.

The cramps were so intense they left her drenched in cold sweat, feeling like she might pass out.

At one point, she even suspected she might have some terminal illness.

But during her last check-up, the abdominal ultrasound showed nothing alarming.

Maybe it was just severe malnutrition causing all kinds of physical discomfort.

For two days straight, Adora was in constant pain.

She stayed holed up in her room, not stepping out.

Around mealtime, she would order food through her phone.

When the pain got unbearable, she even had a delivery guy bring her painkillers.

But the medication only worked for a short while.

The night she was startled by the snake, Lilian had twisted her right ankle.

It was now tightly wrapped in layers of bandages.
