Madame Lee: As long as it makes money, that’s all that matters.
White-Coat Deity: If we don’t share the same philosophy, there’s no point continuing. I think I’ll just leave the group.
Adora frowned as she read the message.
Seriously? A grown man quitting a group chat just because of a difference in opinion?
Madame Lee: And you call yourself a doctor? That’s your tolerance level? How do you handle difficult patients or emotional families? Do you just walk out when things get complicated? Or are you just another quack in a white coat?
At the mention of “quack,” Adora couldn’t help thinking of Eugene’s uncle, an absolute quack.
He had a bad temper, unpredictable mood swings, and a talent for passive-aggressive jabs.
White-Coat Deity: Is that how you normally talk to people? Tossing insults like it’s nothing?
Adora smirked and started typing a reply. But before she could finish…
Mason: White-Coat Deity had left the group.
Miles: No way! Seriously? Is he in a bad mood today?
Adora paused, then deleted the half-written message and replaced it with a calmer response.
Madame Lee: If you don't share the same values, no need to force it.
Miles: Still… you were a little harsh, Madame Lee. He’s actually a really good doctor.
Before Adora could respond, Miles sent a long voice message.
She hesitated but eventually tapped to play it.
"Madame Lee… I really have to speak up for White-Coat. He’s far from a quack. He’s practically a miracle worker.
“Last year, my niece got into a horrific accident. She got hit by a construction truck. Her injuries were beyond severe.
“Internal organs displaced, everything a mess. When she got to the hospital, the doctors basically told us to prepare for the worst.
"I remembered White-Coat mentioning he was based in Capital City, so I messaged the group hoping he might know someone.
“Turns out, he was off duty that day. But the moment he heard what happened, he jumped in his car and rushed to the hospital.
“He arranged a priority transfer to his own facility and personally handled it.
Coach Ryan: White-Coat is a legend. I’m buying him three rounds when we meet on Friday.
Mason: Miles, you need to bring him back. He deserves to hear all this.
Adora hadn’t said a word since the messages started rolling in.
She watched as one after another, her groupmates poured out their respect and gratitude.
Guilt stirred in her chest.
She had been too harsh.
But what surprised her most was what came to mind next.
When Miles said “he’s a bit aloof in person,” an image suddenly surfaced in her mind Louis.
He always had that cool, unreadable expression—eyes that seemed just a little too distant.
She didn’t know why, but somehow, the two overlapped in her head.
