Eugene replied instantly, this time with a voice message. “Adora, don’t say that. As long as you’re doing well, that's all that matters to me.”
At that moment, Eugene felt noble like he was making some grand, selfless sacrifice, completely unaware that he was being played like a fool.
Louis, who was watching everything unfold, looked like he was choking on air.
Life as a doctor showed him the full spectrum of humanity and he’d seen all kinds of people over the years.
However, he'd never come across someone like her before—breathtakingly gorgeous, yet notorious for her outrageous behavior
His gaze toward Adora grew even colder, laced with outright disdain.
And now, his own nephew, with his warped sense of judgment, was just as much of a disappointment.
Louis felt his irritation bubbling over.
Meanwhile, Adora was in high spirits.
She updated her online banking limit, then transferred the entire 6.8 million dollars property payment in one go.
“All done. You can check,” she said cheerfully, chin tilted up with smug satisfaction.
Louis hadn’t thought it could get worse.
He was already selling the place at a loss, and now he had to deal with this?
His jaw tightened.
He shot her a glacial look, turned on his heel, and strode off without a word.
Adora, even more pleased, called after him, “Thanks, Mr. Walker. Let’s never meet again.”
His retreating figure stiffened visibly, his aura even frostier.
Back in his car, Louis immediately called his nephew.
Eugene, still basking in the warm afterglow of his own generosity, picked up with a bright tone. “Uncle Louis? What’s up? Didn’t expect a call from you today.”
Louis, still fuming, was in no mood for pleasantries.
The sound of his nephew’s chipper voice only added fuel to the fire.
“I swear to God, I could strangle you right now.”
“W-What?!” Eugene stammered, caught off guard.
“What did I even do? I haven’t even been near you lately!”
“Let me spell it out for you. A man who cheats or two-times never ends well. If you're a failure, that’s one thing—maybe your brain just didn’t fully develop.
With a light press on the gas, the luxury car roared to life, gliding through the bustling streets and turning heads at every corner.
“Wow, that’s stunning! My old junker looks like it belongs in a scrapyard,” Laura exclaimed as she stepped out of the university gates and spotted her best friend’s new ride.
Adora gave her short hair a playful toss, tossed her a flirty wink, and grinned. “Hop in. Let’s go for a spin.”
“Absolutely!”
Adora drove Laura around the city center, soaking in the lights and energy, before treating Laura to a lavish dinner at a well-reviewed restaurant.
After they were full and content, Laura leaned over, curious. “So, now that the house and the car are sorted, what’s next? Are you still planning to live with the Matthews?”
“Of course I am,” Adora replied with a mischievous glint in her eye.
“Playing mind games with them has become one of the greatest joys of my life.”
After yesterday’s little setup, she knew Ruby was getting desperate.
She was cornered enough to lash out without thinking.
This meant the games were only just beginning.
And Adora couldn’t wait.
