Kaia just smiled, not saying a word.
Silas was a great guy—funny, charming, and incredibly competent.
But Kaia knew perfectly well she had no romantic feelings for him. He could be a partner, a friend, a co-founder, but never a lover.
"What, you still think he's not good enough?" Jane grew anxious seeing her daughter just smile. "Don't lock your heart up forever. When you meet a good man, you have to grab him."
Kaia chuckled. "Mom, give me a break. Besides, the tiny bit of sweetness that comes with love is nowhere near enough to make up for the massive amount of trouble it brings."
Jane paused, as if remembering something, and let out a soft sigh. "True. He is a Sanders, after all. There would definitely be a mountain of drama. You're already busy with work and taking care of Brynlee. You really don't have the time or energy for it."
Seeing her mother finally drop the subject, Kaia breathed a sigh of relief.
The Sanders Estate!
Finnian returned to the main estate for dinner that night. He had originally wanted to bring Brynlee with him, but the little girl said she wanted to stay with her mom, so he came alone.
The Sanders estate used to be bustling and lively, but now it felt suffocatingly quiet.
A lavish dinner was set out on time. Josephine's arthritis had been acting up recently due to the cold weather, but the ointment Kaia had left behind was still working wonders.
Elaine had been deeply depressed lately. She had lost a significant amount of weight, stopped going to social events, and lost all interest in dressing up. She suddenly looked her age, radiating a profound exhaustion.
