What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 548

And now? She stood by and watched Noelle get humiliated, didn't lift a finger to help, and just scrolled through her phone like it was none of her business.

Noelle finally saw Heather for who she really was and decided to completely cut ties with her.

The early December wind already carried the biting chill of winter.

Kaia sat in her office, sipping a cup of ginseng tea she'd brewed for herself.

A half-finished project report glowed on her computer screen. Just then, her eyes flicked to the date in the bottom right corner: December 8th.

In three days, it would be her birthday. Time really flew.

She remembered how her birthdays used to be. Josephine would always orchestrate a grand dinner, inviting the Chavez family over. The two families would sit together, eat, cut a cake, and Kaia would receive gifts from the elders.

She had always celebrated her birthdays quietly. When she received gifts, she would meticulously log them and find an appropriate time to send gifts in return.

It seemed she wouldn't have to bother with any of that this year. She just needed to have dinner with her parents and enjoy a happy, simple day.

It was past eight when she finally got back to the apartment. As soon as she opened the door, she heard voices. It sounded like Silas had come over.

"Uncle Silas, what's this little robot's name? Her singing is so pretty!" Brynlee was happily chattering away with a funny-looking smart robot, her little face glowing with pure joy.

"What's this?" Kaia asked with a smile as she walked in.

Silas's dark eyes lit up, and he stood up. "I asked a buddy to bring this new-model smart robot over from abroad. It's to keep Brynlee company."

Brynlee immediately told the robot, "This is my mom! Her name is Kaia. Sparky, say hi to Mom!"
