The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 467

Aaron took a risk. "Ms. Sterling is missing. She's likely desperate and out of options, which is why she came looking for you."

Seeing that Jamie didn't immediately shoot him down, Aaron added softly, "She's Ms. Sterling's closest friend... practically family."

Jamie shot him a sharp look, his voice devoid of warmth. "Push the guys to get the exterior security footage immediately... Go downstairs and bring her up."

Aaron nodded and bolted out of the office.

A few minutes later.

"Jamie Baylor!!!"

Without so much as a knock, Stella barged into the office, screaming his name.

Aaron didn't even dare to step inside, smoothly pulling the door shut from the hallway.

Panting with rage, Stella marched right up to Jamie, stopping just a few feet away. "Hand her over!"

Jamie gave her a flat, detached look and didn't say a word.

His nonchalance only poured gasoline on her fury. "Get this through your head—this isn't like a few years ago. If nothing else, she has three toddlers waiting for her at home! What exactly are you trying to do? If you don't hand her over today, we're taking this to the police."

Ignoring her outburst, his tone remained icy. "She's missing. I'm investigating it."

Stella obviously didn't buy a word of it. The last time he had kept Suzie captive, he brushed it off just as casually, claiming they had 'made up.' And the reality? The reality was Suzie hiding in a closet, crying and begging for help over the phone. Suzie had no idea that Stella had broken down sobbing multiple times on the other side of that call.

Stella hesitated for only a second before running after them.

The group sped to Lionel's residence, only to find the housekeepers. They claimed Lionel had gone to the office and Mrs. Lockwood was visiting relatives out of town and wouldn't be back until next month. Beyond that, the staff knew absolutely nothing.

They rushed out and drove straight to Lionel's company.

When they arrived at his office, Lionel was in the middle of a meeting with a client, but quickly dismissed them upon hearing Jamie was there.

"Well, Mr. Baylor. It's rare for you to grace us with your presence. To what do I owe the pleasure?" Lionel asked smoothly, remaining comfortably seated in his chair without offering them one.

Because Chloe had supposedly 'saved' Jamie's life, the Baylor Group had heavily subsidized the Lockwood family's business years ago, allowing their small company to explode in growth. They had even leveraged Baylor Group's domestic network to drive their overseas expansion.
