The Years Between Signing and Seeing novel Chapter 468

However, due to the incident four years ago, Jamie severed all business ties with the Lockwood family.

That single move essentially gutted their primary source of revenue, breaking the crucial link between their domestic and international operations. Lionel was forced to shift his entire business focus back to the domestic market, and he had been nursing a bitter grudge ever since.

He firmly believed that because his daughter had saved Jamie's life, the Baylor family owed them unwavering support for generations. Who could have predicted that Jamie would be so utterly ruthless over Chloe simply bullying his secretly married wife?

Jamie wasn't surprised by Lionel's attitude. Human nature was like that—help someone for half their life, but the moment you stop, you become the villain.

Without a word, Jamie flicked his wrist. Aaron instantly stepped forward and placed his phone on the desk right in front of Lionel.

Waiting until Lionel recognized his own car on the screen, Jamie finally spoke. "Where did you take her?"

Lionel frowned, clearly offended. "Are you having me followed?"

Knowing that their only chance of finding Suzie quickly lay with this man, Aaron wanted to prevent a full-blown argument before his boss's temper completely erupted.

"We're not investigating you, Mr. Lockwood," Aaron explained smoothly but firmly. "We are looking for Ms. Sterling. The trail showed that you invited her out, and it's imperative that we locate her immediately."

Fearing Lionel might still lie, Aaron stressed, "We absolutely must find her. It is an extremely urgent matter."

At this, Lionel's expression turned grave. He stood up, walked around the desk, and looked Jamie squarely in the eye. "What exactly is your relationship with Suzie?"

Jamie furrowed his brows. Lionel seriously didn't know Suzie was his wife? Had Chloe never mentioned it when she went home crying four years ago?

Dodging the question, Jamie pushed harder. "Mr. Lockwood, she disappeared immediately after leaving you. Finding her is our absolute priority right now."

Panic flared in Lionel's chest, making him abandon his interrogation about their relationship. He racked his brain.

"We ate at the Sovereign Hotel. When we walked out the doors, it was approaching 3:00 PM. I offered to have my driver take her, but she politely declined. I distinctly remember checking my watch; it was nearly three."
