Alex looked down at their intertwined hands. The warmth from her palm felt like a lifeline, slowly melting the icy grip of anger around his heart.
He squeezed her hand back, his voice thick with exhaustion. "I'm just so pissed. He's ruined so many lives, done so much damage, and yet we keep letting him slip right through our fingers. I'm terrified he's going to come back and target you and Niki."

Harold was a vindictive psychopath. After making his escape in Penang, there was zero chance he would just walk away. He would undoubtedly come back for blood, and Danielle and Niki were the easiest ways to break Alex.

Danielle said firmly, "Don't panic. We're back in Westbrook. This is our territory. Captain Quinn is here, and we've got top-tier security in place. Even if Harold tries to pull something, he won't be able to touch us."

He looked up at her, seeing only unwavering trust and fierce loyalty in her eyes. It was as if no matter how violent the storm got, she would stand right there in the trenches with him.
