Meeting Alex's gaze, Captain Quinn recognized the absolute finality in his decision and knew it was the smartest play they had left.
He gave a sharp nod. "Alright. We head back."
"But I'm getting on the horn with Interpol immediately. I want a Red Notice blasted across every database in the world. No matter what rock he crawls under, we're going to keep a spotlight on him."
"Good," Alex agreed. "I'll mobilize every international contact I have to track his movements. The second anyone hears a whisper, we move."
With the decision made, the team immediately sprang into action.
Lincoln and Carter scrambled to book the flights and pack their gear, while Captain Quinn coordinated with the authorities back home and liaised with Interpol to get the global warrant issued.
Alex retreated to the bedroom, pulling out his phone to call Danielle.
She answered almost instantly. "What's wrong? Did something happen? Is Captain Quinn there?"
Leaning against the headboard, Alex felt a massive wave of exhaustion melt away at the sound of her soft voice.
He kept his tone incredibly gentle. "Everything is fine, don't panic. He's here. We're all okay."
"Then why are you calling right now? Is your wound hurting? Have you been applying the ointment on time?"
Danielle pressed, "Rebecca specifically said you need to use those medications regularly to heal properly. Please don't try to tough it out."
"I know, I've been doing exactly what she said. The cut is already doing much better. It barely hurts."
He lied smoothly, desperate to spare her any unnecessary stress. "I called to let you know we're heading home. We're on a flight this afternoon and should land in Westbrook by tomorrow morning."
"Coming home?" Danielle asked, surprised. "Why the sudden change of plans? What about Harold?"
Alex hesitated for a fraction of a second, but he knew he couldn't hide the truth from her. "He vanished. Just completely disappeared into thin air. We scoured the city, but we couldn't find a single trace of him, and the local police are refusing to cooperate. There's no reason to stay here anymore. We're coming back to regroup."

Although she was one of the protagonist (and best friend of Danielle), I'm really annoyed with Kristen. What does she actually want? She wants to be completely free from Gian, whatever their business is. But when Gian doesn't care about her, she gets annoyed and overthinks. Hey, Kristen, the world doesn't revolve around you. You may follow your own feelings, but that doesn't mean you can ignore other people's feelings at all!...
It seems like this novel will end at chapter 5000. Every time one issue ends, another one pops up, and it seems like the author is just trying to drag it out. I'm starting to get tired of reading it....
I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele. Hated that in the name of love or protection alexander can treat another woman better, not just once, but with this new lorie girl... Oh my blood pressure getting higher cause by the new plot :(...
