Alex snapped back to reality, put his phone away, and pushed down the swirling emotions in his chest. He stood, straightened his bathrobe, and opened the bedroom door. "Send him up."
Captain Quinn's arrival in Penang was exactly what he had expected.
Danielle had mentioned that the captain's paperwork was nearly finalized and that he would arrive in Penang within a few days. Based on the timeline, today was the day.
He just hadn't expected the timing to be so ironic—arriving precisely when Harold Chapman had vanished.
Moments later, Captain Quinn stepped into the apartment. He carried the exhaustion of a long journey, his clothes still damp from the rain outside.
Though dressed in casual clothes, the captain's righteous aura was unmistakable. As soon as he saw Alex, he hurried over.
His gaze landed on the scratch marks on Alex's neck, a flash of concern in his eyes. "Mr. Davidson, you're hurt? Is it serious?"
"Just a minor scratch. It's nothing." Alex waved it off, gesturing for the captain to take a seat. "I was just about to call you. I didn't expect you to beat me to it."
"Danielle texted me. Once I knew the situation was urgent, I expedited the paperwork and caught a red-eye flight," Captain Quinn explained as he sat down.
He took the hot coffee Lincoln offered him, taking a sip to warm up before asking, "I heard you pinpointed Harold's location?"
"He's in the old harbor district, right? I've already touched base with the local authorities. I was hoping we could head over there today and finalize the raid."
Alex's expression darkened. He shook his head. "You're too late. He's gone. We discovered it this morning—the place in the old harbor was completely cleared out. Not a single clue left behind. We scoured all of Penang, but he vanished without a trace."
"What?" Captain Quinn's expression instantly shifted. He slammed his coffee mug down on the table.

It seems like this novel will end at chapter 5000. Every time one issue ends, another one pops up, and it seems like the author is just trying to drag it out. I'm starting to get tired of reading it....
I hope daniele will have no end game with alexander since whatever the reason is, he only give her too much grievencess. I hope there will be another male character with stronger present than alexander to have the end game with daniele.
