The True Heiress Reborn And Slays (Alicia Delaney) novel Chapter 634

Chapter 634 Debt and Marriage

Raymond didn’t mince words. “Not a chance. The company’s slammed with deadlines If you want someone to give her the tour, go ask Elsie–she’s likely got way more free time than I do.”

Melissa’s expression dropped right away.

She looked like she was about to keep going–maybe to call him out for being so blunt, or to vent her own frustrations–but she could see the complete disinterest written all over her son’s face

It was clear nothing she said would change his mind.

In the end, she held her tongue.

Evelyn jumped in to lighten the mood, wearing a polite, understanding smile. “It’s alright, Aunt Melissa. Raymond’s career should come first. We can always plan something later–I’ll be in Nexopolis for a few weeks anyway.”

Melissa grabbed the opportunity. “Well… at least swap contact info. Raymond, no matter how busy work gets, you still have days off. You could take Evelyn out for lunch or something.”

That was the least she could walk away with today.

Raymond was beyond irritated, but to wrap this pointless meet–up faster, he bit back his annoyance and pulled out his phone.

“I’ll add you,” he said flatly.

Evelyn was nearly giddy as she rattled off her number.

Raymond keyed it in and fired off a friend request.

While he waited for her to accept, he reflexively checked his WhatsApp notifications.

That was when he noticed–besides Evelyn’s just–accepted request–there was another unread friend request marked with a red

“1“.

He tapped it, and his eyes paused on the profile picture and name.

It was Claudia.

Her profile photo was a cartoon cat baring its teeth, looking just as feisty as she was in real life.

And her friend request message was just as fired up.

“Raymond, are you out of your mind??? I told you to say hi to my dad, not to tell him you had a great time on our date! Now my parents are over the moon–they’ve been telling everybody how amazing you are, and they’re pushing me to get to know you better! I’m serious–go talk to your dad and make it clear you’re not into me at all!!”

All the frustration from being thrown into this awkward setup vanished in that moment, replaced by the smug satisfaction of a prank pulled off perfectly.

The corner of his mouth lifted almost on its own.

Evelyn, secretly thrilled, glanced up and caught Raymond smiling.

This eyes were fixed on his phone, his expression focused and quietly pleased.

Her heart fluttered.

She turned to Melissa, eyes bright and hopeful. “Aunt Melissa, did you see that? Raymond smiled right at me! Do you think… he might actually like me?”

“Whether he likes you depends on how much effort you put in. I’ve done what I can to open the door–the rest is up to you.”

After leaving the café, she made up an excuse and put Evelyn–still floating in her rosy daydream–into a cab back to her hotel.
