Chapter 615 Where the Husband Sits

After the butler finished seating the fionored elders and key family members at the head table, he realized, somewhat awkwardly, that there was no spot left for Riley.

Riley herself didn’t seem fazed. Where she sat or who she dined with wasn’t a big deal to her-after all, it was just dinner.

She offered the butler a reassuring smile, then turned and found a nearby table where mostly women were gathered, taking a seat without any fuss.

But just because she didn’t mind didn’t mean Sebastian was okay with it.

He completely ignored the butler’s gesture toward the head table and, amid surprised glances from other guests, walked straight over to Riley and slid into the chair beside her as if it were the most natural thingin the world.

The move quickly caught everyone’s attention.

Soon, someone from Sander’s side came over, urging Sebastian to join the main table.

Without even looking up, Sebastian replied calmly, “No need. I’ll stop by later to toast him myself. My parents can represent me up there.”

Riley knew he was worried she’d feel out of place sitting alone.

As touched as she was, she couldn’t help thinking his breaking protocol might draw criticism from the older relatives.

Leaning slightly toward him, she whispered, “Maybe you should go. I’m really fine here-there are plenty of aunts and cousins around.”

Sebastian shifted his chair an inch closer to hers and said plainly, “Nope. I’m staying right here.”

Some of Riley’s earlier unease melted away.

The women at the table, however, saw things differently.

“Oh, Sebastian, honey, go on up there,” one of the more senior aunts urged gently. “Look, your great-grandfather and all the uncles are watching from the head table. It’s only polite not to keep the elders waiting.”

A younger cousin-in-law chimed in with a playful smile, “Exactly. It’s Riley’s first time here with us-we’ll take good care of her, don’t you worry. Nobody’s going to give her a hard time,”

Even as she spoke, there was a gleam of amusement in her eyes, as though she was enjoying the little scene.

That prompted others at the table to join in, each offering what sounded like well-intentioned encouragement, gently nudging Sebastian to return to his assigned seat.

Sebastian didn’t budge, his brow faintly furrowing as he prepared to refuse-when Miranda’s voice smoothly cut through.

“All right, that’s enough now.”

Everyone turned to look. Miranda had quietly slipped away from the head table and was now approaching with graceful ease.
