Claire limped over and handed her a bottle of water.
Juno glanced up at her arm, then stood to let Claire take her seat. "There's water everywhere. If your ankle hurts, you shouldn't be walking around."
Claire just smiled without saying a word.
Juno looked confused.
A second later, Claire abruptly threw her arms around Juno. "Holy crap, you were incredible!! All the guys down there are screaming your name!"
Juno was like a beacon of light, moving so fast she completely captivated the male audience above.
A sporty, radiant girl—how could anyone not like her?
Juno felt a bit helpless.
Thinking back, she really only had one goal in the first half: absolutely demolish Rhiannon and Faye. She went relentless, ignoring everything else, scoring every time she found an opening. The opposing team was beaten into total despair.
Compared to the relaxed vibe on Juno's side, Rhiannon's bench was suffocatingly tense.
Faye held her head in her hands, completely shut down.
Rhiannon's mood wasn't much better. A lot of Corrington family members had shown up today. Worse, she heard Shane's parents were coming too. She hadn't spotted them yet, but she knew they were watching from somewhere.
She couldn't afford to perform this terribly.
Rhiannon whispered to her teammates, "Juno has a lower back injury."
A month ago, she had checked out of the hospital before fully recovering. While it wasn't obvious in her daily movements, tiny flinches here and there betrayed her lingering pain.
Several teammates shot her suspicious looks.
Her implication wasn't hard to decipher, and they were weighing whether they really wanted to stoop that low.
Faye looked up, deep in thought.
Halftime was over in a flash.
Both teams took the court.
