Her remark came out of nowhere, leaving Cassie Carlson thoroughly humiliated.
Willow Webb opened her eyes in astonishment, while Carmela, who was watching the same live broadcast, immediately began cursing up a storm.
"Who does this bitch think she is? The other three judges were ready to pass her, so what is her problem?!"
"They just let anyone on this show these days! Damn it, if my daughter doesn't get picked because of her, I'll make her pay!"
As Carmela continued to screech in the background, Willow's eyes were glued solely to Juno Mercer.
The television screen was mostly filled with Juno's face.
She was absolutely gorgeous.
The entire studio plunged into sudden silence.
The tension in the air was palpable.
Cassie offered an awkward smile. "I'm sorry, Ms. Mercer. I've had a dream of making music since I was little, but because I haven't had any professional training, my vocals might be a bit lacking.
But please believe me, if you just give me a little time, I promise I'll show you improvement."
Juno's expression remained flat. "And you thought this level of performance was acceptable for a national competition?"
Cassie's smile faltered completely, though she forced herself to maintain a polite tone. "This is my only chance, so I really wanted to seize it."
By now, the atmosphere had frozen to an absolute zero.
The showrunner was practically giddy—this was exactly the kind of drama they wanted.
The live comments on the broadcast exploded with outrage.
"What is this judge's problem? She has a dream and wanted to try, why is she being so disrespectful?!"
"Her arrogant attitude is making me sick."
"Supporting our singer girl!!!"
"If she doesn't advance, this whole show is definitely rigged."
Rhiannon Corrington spoke up softly, "Actually, I believe that given time, she could become a wonderful singer. Isn't the original intent of our show to give more young people with dreams a chance?"
Juno ignored Rhiannon completely. The girl just wanted to play the saint; she'd been handing out free passes to everyone the entire broadcast.
But since Juno was sitting in this chair today, she was going to take her responsibility seriously.
"Bring me a copy of her sheet music," Juno demanded directly to the production crew.
