Chapter One Hundred Twenty Seven

After breakfast, the four of them went directly to Damon’s office. The atmosphere was different from yesterday. Lighter. Less hostife. Not because their problems disappeared. Far from it. Stone Claw was still waiting. Vanessa and possibly Rafe were preparing for their Alpha and Luna ceremony. Thorne was still somewhere in the shadows. The feral attacks were increasing.
And now they knew that someone-or something-had been hunting Silver Wolves long before Diana was born.
But despite all that- they were beginning to stand on the same side. At least enough to sit in the same room without Talon trying to pin Damon against a wall. Though judging from Talon’s expression while walking beside Damon- the possibility was still there.
Damon moved toward his desk and picked up several folders.
“Have a seat.”
Everyone settled around the large table. Willow sat beside Damon. Talon and Diana sat across from them. Conall quietly stood beside the door, arms crossed.
Damon placed several folders on the table.
“This is all the information we have regarding the Silver Wolf.”
Talon took one. Diana took another. Willow leaned closer to Damon and looked through his copy.
Several seconds passed. Then more. Silence. Page turning. More silence. Then- Talon slowly looked up.
“This is it?”
Confusion crossed his face. Then disbelief.
“This is all?”
Diana looked equally surprised. Because the contents were almost identical to what Black Howler’s elders had discovered.
Ancient fragmented notes. Legends. Scattered observations. Silver Wolves appeared every hundred years or more. They possessed unusual gifts. Female Silver Wolves became powerful Lunas. Male Silver Wolves often became exceptional Alphas or warriors.
But beyond that- nothing. No explanation. No origin. No purpose. Nothing that explained why Diana was being hunted.
Nothing that explained Thorne. Nothing that explained why someone wanted Silver Wolves erased. Damon leaned back in his chair and sighed.
“Unfortunately…” His expression hardened slightly. “Yes.”
A moment of silence followed.
“We didn’t know anything about Silver Wolves until we met someone.”

Diana looked up immediately. Someone? Damon folded his hands.
“About eleven or twelve years ago.”
Willow blinked.
“That long?”
Damon nodded.
“At the time I was desperate.”
His gaze lowered slightly. The room quieted. Because Damon rarely talked about his past.
“My parents died during a feral rogue attack when I was still a pup.”
Willow’s expression softened. She knew his parents died. But Damon rarely gave details.
“After they died…” Damon continued quietly, “Conall’s parents took me in.”
He glanced briefly toward Conall.
“They raised me.”
Conall lowered his head slightly.
“My mother and father ran the kingdom until Damon was old enough to lead.”
Damon nodded.
“When I officially took the Rogue King title….” His eyes darkened slightly. “One of my first orders was to build alliances.”
Talon remained quiet. Damon noticed. And despite the history between them- he wasn’t accusing him. He simply spoke honestly.
“But it wasn’t easy.”
A small bitter smile crossed his face.
“Most packs didn’t want anything to do with the Rogue Kingdom. Even the Royal Pack.”
Talon looked uncomfortable. Not defensive. Just uncomfortable. Because Damon wasn’t wrong. Rogue
wolves had never been trusted.
Diana looked thoughtful.
“Eleven to twelve years ago…” she murmured.
Then suddenly froze. Wait. Her eyes widened slightly.
Twelve years ago… I was only twelve turning thirteen.”
Artemis immediately stirred. Diana looked toward Talon.
“That was around the time Artemis first spoke to me.”

Silence. Everyone turned toward her. Diana slowly sat back.
“She insisted on hiding herself.”
Her brows pulled together as memories resurfaced.
“She told me not to reveal her existence. She said we had to wait for our mate.”
Talon frowned slightly.
“Mate?”
Diana nodded.
“Then six years later…”
A bitter smile crossed her face.
“We found out Asher was our mate..”
Instantly-Talon growled. Not Talon alone. Fenrir too.
“We are your mate.”
The words came layered. Both voices together. Dangerous. Possessive.
“We are your only mate.”
Clas
Diana sighed. Then reached out and touched Talon’s cheek gently. Immediately his expression softened. Fenrir settled.
“I know.”
Her voice became warm.
“You and Fenrir are our mates.”
Instant calm. Like magic. Willow blinked. Damon stared. Conall looked impressed. Talon coughed awkwardly.
Diana ignored all of them.
“But at that time…” She continued, “all I knew was I had been rejected.” Her gaze drifted slightly.
“And Artemis kept insisting our true mate hadn’t come yet. She pushed me harder than anyone. She made me train. Every day.”
Her eyes darkened slightly.
“Everyone believed I was wolfless.” She looked at Damon. “So I trained as a human. Because I couldn’t use Artemis’s healing. I couldn’t heal faster. I had to hide.”
Silence settled. Because suddenly many things made sense. Why Diana fought like a human warrior. Why she mastered weapons.
Why she could shift so easily between forms. Because she had spent years surviving without relying on

wolf abilities.

Talon’s hand found hers beneath the table. Squeezed gently. Diana smiled softly. Then Talon looked back toward Damon.
“Who was the Oracle?”
Damon’s expression shifted.
“We couldn’t find her.”
Diana frowned.
“Her?”
Damon nodded slowly.
“Yes. We called her an Oracle.” His eyes narrowed slightly.
“But in reality… She was a white witch.”
Silence. Then-
“A white witch?” Diana asked immediately.
Damon blinked.
“Yes.”
Diana and Talon exchanged looks. Could it really be coincidence that Ravenna was also a white witch?
Damon continued.
“She told us a Silver Wolf would unite wolves and the prophecy. Then she disappeared. We never saw her again.”
Then Damon looked at Willow. And suddenly- the atmosphere changed. His voice softened.
“That…” He exhaled slowly. “That is why I became obsessed. That is why I searched for the Silver Wolf. Then found out it was Diana.” He looked at Willow directly.
