The Silver Wolf (Diana and Talon) novel Chapter 105

Chapter One Hundred Five

Diana’s eyes narrowed.

The feeling had been there before.

Faint during the battle, buried beneath adrenaline and blood.

Now that the fighting had stopped, it returned fully.

Not a warrior. Not a feral. Something else. Something… older.

Diana stepped forward before Talon could stop her.

Her voice cut through the aftermath like a blade.

“You’ve watched enough.”

The warriors nearest her tensed immediately.

Talon moved to her side.

Enzo and Galvin looked up sharply.

“Show yourself.”

Silence. The night wind stirred the broken trees.

Then-from the shadows beyond the edge of the forest, a figure emerged.

Female.

Alone.

Draped in white clothing that seemed to move strangely against the night, as if touched by a wind no one else could feel. Her hair was long and dark, streaked with silver though her face was not old. Strange charms and bones hung from cords at her waist. Around her clung an aura unlike anything most wolves had ever felt.

Magic. Ancient, unsettling, unmistakable.

The warriors of Black Howler reacted instantly, forming up again despite their exhaustion.

Talon stepped half in front of Diana.

“Who are you?”

The woman’s gaze did not go to him first.

It went to Diana.

And the moment her eyes settled there, something in her expression shifted-not fear, not surprise- recognition.

“So,” she said softly, though her voice carried eerily well across the ruined clearing, “the stories are true.”

Her gaze sharpened.

“The Silver Wolf lives.”

Artemis growled low, silver fur almost stirring beneath Diana’s skin again.

“Answer him,” Diana said coolly. “Who are you?”

The woman inclined her head slightly.

“My name does not matter.”

Talon’s expression darkened., “It matters if you’re standing inside my territory after watching my pack bleed.”

The woman looked at him then, unimpressed by his title and entirely unbothered by his anger.

“I did not come to fight your pack, Alpha King. If I had, you would know.”

That only made the warriors tighten further.

Diana stepped beside Talon again. “Then why are you here?”

The woman’s eyes returned to her.

“To warn you.”

Silence rippled through the clearing.

“Someone powerful is moving against you,” the woman said. “Not just against your pack. Against you, Silver Wolf.”

Artemis went perfectly still.

Talon’s voice hardened. “Who?”

The woman shook her head once. “A being older than your politics. Older than these kingdoms you protect. Powerful enough to hide in the cracks between wolf and shadow.”

Enzo frowned. “That tells us nothing.”

“It tells you enough,” the woman replied. “The ferals are not multiplying on their own.”

That hit them all at once.

Talon’s jaw tightened.

Diana’s grip on her sword shifted.

Galvin took a step forward. “You’re saying someone is making them?”

“Yes.”

The word dropped cold and final.

Twisting lone wolves. Breaking them Feeding whatever darkness already lives inside them until there is nothing left but hunger and violence.”

A chill passed through even the most hardened warriors.

“And are they being sent here?” Diana asked.

The woman’s gaze sharpened again. “Not for your borders. Not for your warriors.”

A pause.

“For you.”

Artemis snarled.

The woman did not flinch.

“There is someone who wants the Silver Wolf erased before she can become what she was meant to be. And someone is helping him, unknowingly, it might be. As long as the silver Wolf is eliminated, he does not care how it was done”

Talon’s aura surged.

“Who is helping him?”

This time, the woman’s eyes flickered-just once.

“A wolf.”

Diana’s heart sank before the answer came.

“A wolf already close enough to move unnoticed.”

Not a name.

But enough to make everyone think of Rafe, of Vanessa, of hidden scent and sudden attacks sharpen into something deadly.

“Why are you helping us?” Diana asked, her voice steady but filled with suspicion. “Why warn us at all?”

The female tilted her head slightly, studying her for a moment before answering.

“Because not all of my kind seek power,” she said calmly. “There are those who crave control… who believe they are meant to rule over others. But there are also those of us who want something different.”

Her gaze shifted briefly to the fallen battlefield around them before returning to Diana.

“We want balance,” she continued. “We want to live in peace-with wolves, with humans, with every creature that walks this world. It does not matter who created them, or what they are.”

A quiet pause followed.

“What matters is that no single being rises above the rest and forces their will upon everyone else.”

Her voice softened, but the conviction in it remained unshaken.
