The Silver Wolf (Diana and Talon) novel Chapter 104

Chapter One Hundred Four

The moment Talon reached Diana’s side, the entire rhythm of the battlefield changed.

Before, the Black Howler warriors had been surviving.

Now, they were fighting with their Alpha King beside them.

Fenrir’s black form cut through the night like a blade forged from shadow and fury. He moved with terrifying precision, not wasting a single movement, not giving the rogues a single opening. Every lunge was lethal. Every bite shattered bone. Every swipe of his claws sent bodies crashing into trees or tumbling across the blood-soaked ground.

A feral rogue launched itself toward Diana from the left.

Fenrir intercepted it before its claws even reached her, his jaws closing around its neck with a sickening crack. He threw the body aside and immediately pivoted to tear into another that had tried to slip through the warriors’ line.

Diana did not pause to watch him. Artemis surged forward again, silver fur flashing beneath the moonlight. She slammed into a rogue that was twice her size, using its momentum against it, dragging it to the ground before ripping open its throat. The wolf beneath her convulsed once, then stilled.

She shifted back before the body had even gone cold. Her katana lay three feet away, gleaming faintly in the dirt. Diana stepped, grabbed it in one clean motion, and cut down the next attacker who thought her vulnerable mid-transition.

Steel met flesh. A spray of blood. A body dropped. Still they kept coming. Too many. Far too many.

“They’re not slowing down,” Artemis growled inside her mind.

“No,” Diana answered, her breath sharper now, her arm straining as she deflected another strike. “And they don’t care about dying.”

That was what made it worse. Feral rogues were dangerous because they fought without reason. Without strategy. Without fear. But these wolves- these wolves were being directed.

Thrown at her in waves as if their lives meant nothing so long as they kept her occupied.

A rogue charged from the right. Diana ducked low, sliced through the back of its knee, then drove her blade upward beneath its jaw. Another reached her from behind, but Artemis roared through her and she shifted halfway-human body giving way to claws enough to slash across its chest before completing the shift into wolf and bowling into a third.

It was exhausting. Her body burned from the repeated changes. Her lungs stung. Her hands ached from gripping the sword.

And around her, the Black Howler warriors were beginning to feel it too.

She saw one warrior stumble, another panting heavily as he ripped free from a rogue’s bite, another fighting with blood covering half his arm. They were holding because they were trained. Because they were loyal. Because their Alpha and Luna were with them.

But training did not erase fatigue. And loyalty did not make them endless. Talon saw it too. He shifted to Thuman form just long enough to bark orders,

“Rotate the front linet Do not let them trap you in place!”

The warriors obeyed immediately, those closest to the center moving back while the fresher wolves surged forward. It bought them space, but only a little.

Then the forest behind the rogues erupted with two more howls.

Enzo and Galvin. Reinforcements crashed into the rear of the attacking ferals with brutal force. Enzo in wolf form was a blur of dark muscle and blood, all calculated aggression and clean kills. Galvin fought with less finesse and more savagery, his wolf tearing into the enemy like vengeance given claws. The ferals faltered. Only for a second. But it was enough.

“They’re boxed in now!” Galvin barked through the link.

“Then kill them all,” Talon answered coldly.

The next few minutes dissolved into sheer violence.

Fenrir and Artemis fought side by side now, black and silver striking in alternating rhythms. Where Fenrir broke bodies with overwhelming force, Artemis cut through openings with deadly agility. Enzo held the south side of the line, refusing to let a single rogue break toward the inner territory. Galvin pressed from the west, and the Black Howler warriors tightened around them all, turning the battlefield from a siege into an execution. One rogue managed to leap past the outer line. It came straight for Diana’s throat. Talon saw it a heartbeat before impact and shifted mid-sprint, his human hand catching the feral by the face. The force of the collision drove both of them sideways, but Talon did not fall. He slammed the rogue into the ground and drove his claws into its chest until the thing stopped moving.

Then he looked up- and found Diana already fighting again. Another wave. Another clash. Another body.

And then- suddenly- nothing.

No more charging shapes from the forest.

No more desperate snarls.

No more bodies throwing themselves into the line just to reach her.

The surviving ferals, if any remained, had either been killed or melted back into the dark.

For a moment, only breathing remained.

Harsh. Heavy. Wet with blood.

The battlefield was littered with dead rogues.

The earth had been churned into mud and crimson.

Broken branches hung low from trees scarred by claws and impact.

Warriors stood in staggered positions, bloodied and panting, staring into the forest as if expecting another wave at any second.

Talon moved to Diana at once.

His hands found her shoulders, his eyes sweeping over her face, neck, arms, searching.
