After the meeting adjourns, Bianca and Coen head straight to Tara's office.
"I'm so sorry. I've been drowning in corporate messes lately and haven't had a chance to take you both out for dinner so we could properly get to know each other," Tara says apologetically as she hands Coen a cup of tea. Since Danny recommended him, she trusts his competence implicitly and doesn't doubt his skills for a second. It just feels a bit rushed that they haven't shared a private meal to break the ice.
"Oh, please, Tara. We're already thick as thieves. No need for the formalities!" Bianca says, plopping down next to her affectionately before launching into a dramatic complaint. "I'm your highly-paid, right-hand woman now, and you didn't even pour me a cup of tea."
"Yes, I'm perfectly familiar with you, but I still need to touch base with Coen," Tara replies, shooting her friend an exasperated look. So much for being 'thick as thieves' when she's still whining about a cup of tea.
"There's really no need to stand on ceremony, and a private dinner isn't necessary," Coen chuckles, teasingly adding, "Otherwise, your overly jealous man is going to blow up my phone."
In the past, he had no idea Danny possessed this kind of personality. He always assumed the billionaire was an alpha male—aloof, domineering, and icy. He never expected the guy to be totally whipped by his girlfriend, acting like a clingy puppy begging for treats. Seeing him so prone to jealousy is definitely a first.
Tara blushes, coughing awkwardly. "Ahem. Ignore whatever nonsense he spews." What the hell did that jerk say to him? I'm definitely going to deal with him when I get home.
"Understood. Just call me Coen from now on, or use my full name. Whatever works," Coen says smoothly, knowing that if she doesn't, someone might throw another jealous fit.
"Sounds good," Tara agrees with a knowing smile.
"I'll leave you two to catch up. I need to go familiarize myself with the company's operations," Coen says, standing up once the contact is added.
"Of course. I'll have my assistant give you the grand tour and walk you through the procedures. Your private office is already set up and ready to go," Tara replies promptly, gesturing for her assistant to take him around.
The second he steps out the door, Bianca practically squeals with excitement. "Tsk, tsk! Acting all elusive before, claiming we'd only talk in the company group chat, but now he couldn't wait to let me add him! Let's see what kind of juicy details he posts on his social network."
She gleefully taps into the man's profile, eager to do some digging.
