Someone's sudden voice startles Julianna, making her jump. But as soon as she recognizes the person, she exhales a breath of relief. "I know I shouldn't have, but I couldn't hold back. If anyone finds out, I'll just say a maid hit him." It is glaringly obvious that this isn't the first time she has struck her little brother, Gavin, and she shifts the blame with practiced ease.
"If you do this too often, it will raise suspicions," the voice replies.
"I know. I'll be more careful. It's just that whenever he brings up Tara, I lose control." On the surface, Julianna pretends not to care, but deep down, she despises Tara. Not only is that woman standing in her way and stealing her spotlight, but she also has the audacity to steal her man!
"Then you need to keep your composure even more. If you act like this next time, I won't let you off with just a simple warning." The person's tone remains unchanged, yet it carries an undeniable, authoritative weight.
"Understood," Julianna replies, clearly harboring a deep mix of respect and fear for this individual.
They speak freely right in front of Gavin, entirely confident that he won't breathe a word of this to anyone. To be precise, even if the boy wants to tell someone, he simply doesn't have the ability to do so.
While Tara enjoys a warm, domestic atmosphere over at the Calhoun estate, the Dennis family is once again descending into absolute chaos. Since Tara refuses to pull strings for them, the Dennis Group fails to connect with the right people at the pharmaceutical research institute, ultimately losing out on a crucial bid.
Little does she know, at this very moment, Charles is wrapped up in Jovani's embrace.
"Charles, when are you finally going to divorce Deanna and make things official for Jade and me?" Jovani asks, her eyes brimming with tears. She looks the picture of delicate sorrow. "You promised me years ago, but nothing has changed. Do you really expect my daughter and me to suffer in the shadows forever?" She sobs prettily in the secluded suburban villa, knowing exactly how to tug at his heartstrings.
"Jo, I would never lie to you," Charles says. "But the Dennis Group has been hit with a lot of bad press lately, and we just lost a massive project."
