A surge of irritation flares in Julianna's chest. Due to his autism, Gavin does not attend a traditional school. Instead, elite tutors are brought in to teach him at home, running through various advanced subjects every single day.
Despite his condition, his intellect is staggering. He absorbs information flawlessly, rarely making a single mistake on any assigned material. Whenever the family brings home standardized tests from top-tier academies, he scores perfectly across the board. If not for the crippling drawback of his autism, the boy would be hailed as a once-in-a-generation prodigy. An all-around genius. Aside from academics, his skills in painting and chess are peerless.
Because of this, the Sinclair family places immense value on him. Since he refuses to go to a physical school, home-schooling is a perfectly acceptable alternative. However, for the past few days, he has been entirely uncooperative, stubbornly ignoring every single one of his lessons. He is clearly throwing a tantrum.
"What is wrong with you? Why are you refusing to study? What kind of fit are you throwing now?" Julianna glares at him, a flicker of disgust and impatience crossing her face.
Gavin shrinks back, terrified by her harsh tone. He opens his mouth as if to speak, then quickly shakes his head.
"Are you going to speak or not? If you do not tell me right now, I swear you will deeply regret it before Grandma gets back!" She has a thousand different ways to make the little brat suffer.
Trembling, Gavin hesitates for a long moment before finally deciding to express what he wants. He raises his hands and signs earnestly, "I want to play with the pretty lady. Can you bring her to the house? I promise I will not say anything bad. I just want to play with her."
Gavin cowers, clutching his stinging cheek. His eyes are wide with terror, confusion, and deep sorrow. He does not understand why his sister is so violently angry, nor does he understand why he is not allowed to see the pretty lady. This is clearly not the first time he has been struck. He does not cry, he does not fight back, and he does not run to tattle. He simply endures it in dead silence.
Just then, a voice drifts into the room.
"Julianna, you have lost your temper again. I have told you countless times. If you are going to hit Gavin, do not do it where the marks are so obvious."
