The Platonic Trap novel Chapter 86

His handsome brows furrowed slightly. Without thinking, Alistair rubbed the pad of his thumb against his fingers.

"Oh, right. About this gala—it looks like Ms. Stafford is on the guest list as well."

Remembering his earlier conversation with the young woman, Ken casually added the detail.

Alistair looked up at him, his tone completely nonchalant. "Then we'll make an appearance."

Ken nodded. "Understood, Mr. Zucker. I'll clear your schedule."

Celia had only been about 70% sure that Alistair would actually show up to this event.

Usually, he avoided these superficial welcome galas where people just tried to curry favor with him.

But she had found out that several high-ranking officials would be there. Even though Alistair's status far exceeded theirs, his impeccable manners meant he would at least show up out of respect.

Her gamble paid off.

Outside the main entrance of Elysian Club.

Celia immediately spotted Alistair's car pulling up. The moment the man stepped out, a swarm of powerful elites rushed over to surround him.

He was the youngest man in the crowd. His hair was slicked back flawlessly, fully exposing his sharp, perfect forehead.

With his brow ridge on full display, he looked much more imposing and predatory than usual—an untouchable force, intimidating even from afar.

Older men, senior to him by decades, stepped forward with ingratiating smiles. Alistair's manners were flawless, yet politely distant.

Amidst the noise of the crowd, with luxury cars lined up behind him and countless socialites vying for his attention, his expression remained perfectly serene.

Turning his head slightly, his gaze cut through the crowd and locked directly onto hers.

Celia froze for a second. A chill ran down her spine, like a prey animal suddenly caught in the crosshairs of a predator.
