"Then what am I supposed to do?" Celia let out a soft laugh, tilting her head as she looked at the professor with innocent defiance. "I guess I'm just lucky to be born a Stafford."
The professor's eyes widened in sheer disbelief. She clearly hadn't expected such words to come out of the mouth of the usually quiet, well-behaved Celia.
"Didn't Ms. Morgan ask me how to solve this problem? It's actually very simple."
Celia picked up her designer bag, a mocking smile on her lips. "Why don't you just start a company yourself and run a simulation?"
Without sparing them another glance, Celia pushed open the door and left the office.
The moment the door clicked shut, the smile vanished from Celia's face.
She felt deeply annoyed.
It seemed like everyone favored Evelyn, believing she was the one worthy of sympathy.
—It was becoming more and more like the plot of her nightmare.
With a dark expression, Celia got into her car and drove out of the campus gates.
She was just getting ready to head home when her phone rang.
It was Talbot.
Celia was slightly surprised. Unless he needed a favor, Talbot rarely ever called her on his own initiative.
She answered, and before she could even say a word, Talbot's low, angry voice barked through the speaker. "Celia, what exactly is your problem!"
"What did Evelyn ever do to you? How could you openly humiliate her in front of the professor?!"
Well, that little tattle-tale worked fast.
"Why do you care so much about Evelyn?" Celia's voice was crystal clear and melodic. "Talbot, aren't you my fiancé?"
Talbot choked on his words for a second before his tone turned icy. "Evelyn moved to the Capital all by herself. She has no connections and no friends. As her boss, shouldn't I look out for her a bit?"
