The Platonic Trap novel Chapter 148

Last night, a few of the maids had heard the crying from the third floor and went to check on it.

They had also heard Mr. Zucker's voice coming from inside her room.

Yet, this morning, they treated her with the exact same level of profound respect, acting completely normal.

It was as if they had amnesia regarding whatever they heard or saw.

She had to admit, the staff Alistair hired were flawlessly professional.

--

Zucker Corporation.

The moment Celia sat at her desk, she heard the low buzz of hushed gossip spreading around the office.

The voices were quiet, but the air was thick with panic and speculation.

Shortly after she settled in, a carton of milk was gently placed on her desk.

Celia looked up to see a woman in glasses offering an awkward smile. "Morning. I brought an extra milk. If you don't mind, it's yours."

A flash of genuine surprise crossed Celia's eyes.

Thanks to Larry's malicious targeting, none of her team members had dared to speak to her lately.

What was going on today?

"Thank you."

She didn't refuse, offering the woman a polite smile.

The woman adjusted her glasses and leaned in, whispering, "Celia, did you hear? Mr. Lambert was beaten so badly he's in the hospital."

Celia's hand paused as she went to unscrew the cap.

Didn't Alistair say last night he just handed him over to the cops? Why was the story so different?

Playing up her shock, she widened her eyes. "What happened?"
