The Platonic Trap novel Chapter 127

The moment the door swung open, the irritable words died in her throat.

As if she were choking on air, her eyes went wide, staring at the man standing before her in sheer disbelief.

But before her brain could even process the sight of him, his senses were hit by the steamy, intoxicating scent of lily of the valley.

Alistair frowned instantly. The second he saw her, instinct kicked in, and he took a step back, tearing his gaze away.

Celia had been feeling lethargic just moments ago.

But the instant she saw him, a wicked idea sprouted in her mind.

A subtle smirk ghosted across her lips before vanishing entirely. Replacing it was a look of total shock and embarrassment. "Uncle Alistair... I didn't know it was you..."

He kept his head turned, his eyes fixed on a distant point down the hall, actively refusing to look at her.

—Well, that wouldn't do.

A glint of mischief flashed in her eyes. She stood barefoot on the luxurious carpet, her skin still flushed and damp.

Having rushed out of the shower in a hurry, she had only quickly wiped herself off. Stray droplets of water still clung to the ends of her hair.

"I-I'll go change first—Ah!"

As if suddenly realizing how exposed she was, she crossed her arms over her chest and stumbled backward to shut the door!

But her wet feet slipped. Her heel caught on a fold in the thick rug, and she pitched straight backward toward the hardwood floor!

The expected pain never came.

Alistair surged forward, grabbing her wrist and wrapping his arm securely around her, pulling her flush against his chest!

The warm scent of lily of the valley enveloped him. Frowning deeply, he held her firmly—one hand anchored securely at her waist, the other gripping her wrist.

Neither of them moved a muscle.

In a panic, she buried her face into his chest. The damp towel pressed against him, soaking into his shirt.

*Thump, thump—*

Someone's heart was racing.

Her fingers clenched into his sleeves as if she were terrified, her chest rising and falling rapidly against him.

"Mr. Zucker? Ms. Stafford? Is everything okay?"
