The Platonic Trap novel Chapter 114

"Oh, right away, Mr. Zucker." Ken nodded quickly and hurried out to gather the documents.

In an instant, the massive office was empty save for Alistair and Celia.

The man sat behind his sleek desk, framed by a sprawling floor-to-ceiling window that offered a sweeping, god-like view of the Capital.

The entire office was designed in stark, minimalist black and white. Every file, every pen, was meticulously organized and completely spotless.

Taking a few steps closer, Celia asked softly, "Uncle Alistair, what exactly is my job going to be?"

Alistair handed her a stack of folders. "It's a new project we just greenlit yesterday. Take a look and see if it interests you."

Celia skimmed the documents, her eyes lighting up. "I'm interested!"

Alistair nodded. "HR will take you to meet the project manager shortly. Don't feel any pressure; it's just the company testing the waters in a new sector."

"Got it. Thank you!"

With her instructions clear, Celia turned and headed out.

The HR manager led her to the project team's floor and tracked down the manager in charge.

"Mr. Lambert, this is the new intern for your team. Please assign someone to... show her the ropes." The HR manager hesitated for a second, carefully choosing his words.

Turning to Celia, he introduced them. "This is Larry Lambert, the project manager. If you need anything, you can report to him."

Celia gave him a polite nod and a soft smile. "Hello, Mr. Lambert."

Larry looked to be in his forties, sporting a receding hairline and thick glasses. He looked Celia up and down, a flash of impatience crossing his face. "Didn't I tell the company I needed experienced staff? This new project is already swamped. How am I supposed to find the time to babysit an intern?"
