The Platonic Trap novel Chapter 101

Alistair kept a low profile today. He wore a bespoke suit from a private label, his demeanor composed and understated.

Yet, the man's presence was undeniably striking. Just sitting there, he effortlessly drew the attention of countless students and faculty.

When the university president approached and finally recognized the man's face, the words caught in his throat. His eyes widened, his jaw practically hitting the floor.

Alistair sat perfectly straight. He tilted his head slightly, casting a brief glance at the newcomer.

Pressing his right index finger to his lips, Alistair made a silencing gesture.

The president snapped back to reality, quickly murmuring several low, breathless agreements as he bent down and carefully took the seat next to the man.

His previously stern expression morphed instantly. Forcing a dry, awkward chuckle, the president leaned in and whispered, "Mr. Zucker, what brings you here?"

Alistair kept his eyes fixed straight ahead, his gaze cool and even. "I'm attending as family."

The president paused, then remembered the recent incident in his office. A look of realization washed over his face. "Ah, I see. Mr. Zucker, you truly... truly care deeply for your family."

Crossing his legs, Alistair leaned his impeccably straight back slightly against the chair. His tone was perfectly calm. "I wonder if you've heard about the defamation and rumor-mongering by the student Evelyn Morgan."

"Oh, yes! Absolutely!" The president laughed nervously, quick to respond. "Evelyn comes from a difficult background and was admitted to Capital University on a full scholarship."

"We at the administration are deeply heartbroken that such an incident occurred."

"You might not be aware, Mr. Zucker, but the school had selected Evelyn as the outstanding graduate representative quite a while ago. After this incident, we immediately revoked her right to speak on stage."

Pausing, the president worried that wasn't enough, so he added, "Furthermore, we will no longer provide Evelyn with any financial or academic support. This will also be permanently recorded in her academic file."

After finishing his eager report, the president looked up, carefully observing the man's expression.

Alistair remained focused on the front. His hands rested naturally on the armrests, his right thumb lightly rubbing against his index finger.

"Mr. Zucker... are you satisfied with how we handled this?" the president asked tentatively.
