Restless Night-2
So she walked.
Step by step.
The distance longer than she remembered.
Her body still sore.
Her chest still aching.
After what felt like forever, she managed to catch a bus going towards the city.
Barely.
And by the time she reached the restaurant-
She was already exhausted.
But she pushed the door open anyway.
The familiar noise of the kitchen hit her instantly.
Heat.
Voices.
Movement.
Routine.
For a moment, it grounded her.
Until-
“Iva?”
She looked up.
Sergio was already moving toward her, his expression surprised-almost alarmed.
“What are you doing here?”
Iva blinked at him, confused.
“I… came to work?”
Her voice came out small.
Uncertain.
Sergio stopped in front of her, clearly flustered now as he lowered his voice.
“But the Crown Prince said you wouldn’t be coming anymore.”
Claim
<Restless Night-?
Silence.
Then
Something inside Iva snapped.
Her eyes hardened instantly.
A spark of anger igniting beneath the exhaustion and heartbreak.
Of course he did.
Without even asking her.
Without even telling her.
Deciding her life-
Like she was nothing.
Her jaw clenched.
“The Crown Prince is wrong.”
Her voice, though quiet, carried steel.
“I still have a job to do.”
Sergio hesitated.
Clearly unsure.
But after a moment, he sighed and stepped aside.
“…fine.”
He gestured toward the back.
“Go.”
Iva didn’t waste another second.
She moved straight to her station.
Back where she belonged.
But before she could fully disappear into her work, Sergio spoke again.
One last question.
“Why didn’t you tell me… that you know the Crown Prince?”
Iva paused briefly.
Her back still turned to him.

Her hands tightening slightly.
“It’s… complicated.”
And that was all she said.
The rest of the day-
Passed in a blur.
The heat of the kitchen.
The clatter of dishes.
The endless rhythm of work.
And Iva-
Poured everything into it.
Every ounce of frustration.
Every shard of heartbreak.
Every unanswered question.
She scrubbed. She moved. She worked harder than ever.
Because if she stopped-
Even for a second-
She knew exactly what would happen.
She would feel.
And right now-
That was the one thing she couldn’t afford to do.

Caleb did not sleep, not truly, not even for a single full hour.
He lay on the vast bed inside the royal chamber, staring into the dim shadows that stretched across the stone walls, turning from one side to the other as if the movement alone could quiet the storm inside his mind, but it never did, it only made him more restless, more aware of the silence, more aware of the weight pressing down on his chest.
The castle felt like a prison.
His father’s orders still echoed in his ears, cold and absolute, leaving no room for argument, no space for rebellion, and for the first time in years Caleb felt trapped not by chains or enemies, but by blood and duty, by a command he could not simply ignore without consequence.
He exhaled sharply and dragged a hand through his hair.

Iva’s face appeared in his mind, soft yet fierce, her voice steady when she had told him the truth-or what
she claimed was the truth-that they were fated mates, that she was the Messenger of the Moon Goddess.
And then Sonia.
Sonia, with her calm confidence and piercing gaze, had said the same thing, almost word for word, as if she too held the same divine truth in her hands.
Two women.
Two identical claims.
One undeniable truth.
One of them was lying.
Caleb’s jaw tightened as he turned onto his back again, staring up at the high ceiling as if answers might be carved into the stone above him.
“I will find out,” he muttered under his breath, his voice low and rough, barely more than a whisper in the quiet room. “I will uncover the truth… no matter what it takes.”
But the certainty in his words did nothing to ease the tension twisting inside him.
