This private kitchen tucked away in the old city specialized in vintage Blossom City cuisine.
The elegant vintage windows, featuring stained glass and carved rosewood, looked out onto a beautiful magnolia tree. Had it been spring, the view would have been absolutely unparalleled.
As Lavinia was pouring her second cup of tea, Florence arrived right on time.
She came alone.
Lavinia had texted Florence the night before, asking to meet privately.
Upon seeing Lavinia, Florence looked her up and down and offered a warm smile. "That jade-colored vintage dress suits you perfectly, just as stunning as the one you wore to the Ancestor Recognition Ceremony."
Lavinia smiled and set down her cup. "So you saw the news?"
"I did. Judith is blessed to have you, and you are blessed as well," Florence said with absolute sincerity.
Lavinia invited her to sit, and the food was quickly brought out. The restaurant went to great lengths to authentically recreate the flavors of old Blossom City, using no artificial additives. Even the soy sauce was brewed in-house. While the dishes might not have looked incredibly flashy, the taste was easily a cut above standard local fine dining.
It wasn't until halfway through the meal that they got down to business.
Lavinia poured Florence a fresh cup of tea and said softly, "Florence, Garnett and I are officially divorced. No matter what happened in the past, I think we can write off those emotional debts completely."
Florence’s lips moved slightly, a bitter edge to her voice. "It's very gracious of you to say that. I know full well that writing off a debt doesn't mean forgiveness. That Mr. Sheffield was blunt, but after thinking it over, I realize you really are under no obligation to forgive them."
Lavinia paused her movements with the small teapot.
She smiled. "People who are understanding are blessed. Florence, I know you will live a long, healthy life."
