Lavinia tracked down Tobin, playing the recording from that drunken dinner party right to his face. She backed it up with the signed confession from the gossip blogger proving Tobin had funded the smear campaign.
What she really wanted was his statement confirming Sigrid had orchestrated the entire thing from the shadows.
It only took Tobin a few minutes of mental math to throw Sigrid straight under the bus in exchange for Lavinia's promise not to press charges. Hesitating any longer would be a blatant disrespect to his own survival.
"Lavinia—or is it Lavinia Gilmore now?" Tobin asked, crossing his legs casually as he leaned back. "I'll admit it, I severely underestimated you. And honestly, so did Garnett."
She had absolutely zero interest in entertaining the bark of a defeated dog. She shot a subtle glance at Zoey.
Zoey stepped forward, placing a phone face-up on the coffee table.
"Mr. Jensen," she said with a razor-sharp smile, "your father doesn't know you've been using the Jensen Group's name to illegally back loans, does he? If you decide not to cooperate in the future, I'd be more than happy to forward these documents directly to Conrad Jensen."
Tobin's legs immediately uncrossed. He stared blankly at the screen, the cocky smirk draining entirely from his face.
Zoey tilted her head innocently. "Judging by that look, I'll assume we understand each other."
Tobin swallowed hard. "I messed up. It won't happen again."
"The next time you see her, you will address her with the utmost respect," Zoey warned icily.
Lavinia raised an eyebrow. "I have no desire to be associated with such pathetic trash."
She stood up, tossing a curt "Let's go" over her shoulder.
As soon as they stepped outside, Zoey turned to her. "Boss, we've got all the evidence. What's the next move?"
"I gave Sigrid a chance," Lavinia said coldly. "Julian told her to leave Blossom City, but she went back on her word and refused. If she's so desperate to stay, then she can stay and face the lawsuit."
She paused, a calculating glint in her eyes. "If I remember correctly, at the U30 Award gala, she paraded around wearing my pearl necklace. The Solstice Group sent her a cease-and-desist, demanding a public apology. Did she ever issue it?"
