Garnett's hands clenched into tight fists. He stared at Lavinia, his lips pressed in a thin, hard line, struggling to find the words.
Judith and Julian exchanged a silent, knowing look.
"You've barely been divorced a few days, and you've already moved on to a new lover?" Nestor sneered from the sidelines. "I bet Garnett's ten million dollar penalty went straight into this guy's pockets, didn't it?"
Furious, Lavinia was about to snap back when Charley offered a faint, polite smile. "You're absolutely right, Mr. Harper. That ten million is indeed with me."
He paused, letting the silence stretch before delivering the final blow. "I haven't touched a single cent of it. I've already instructed my lawyers to transfer it into The Judith Gilmore Charitable Foundation as Lavinia's first personal donation. I have the receipts and transfer records right here. Would you like to review them?"
Nestor's face completely froze.
Julian stood up, his tone leaving no room for argument. "Today is the day Lavinia is officially welcomed back into our family. It is a day of celebration for the Gilmores. Whatever drama you Harpers have going on, I suggest you take it back to your own house."
It was an undeniable order to leave.
Nestor turned to look at Zenia Ford, suddenly realizing how deathly pale she was.
Between the shocking revelations and Nestor's explosive anger, the stress had been too much for Zenia, an older expectant mother. She was experiencing severe contractions, her forehead slick with cold sweat.
"What's wrong?" Nestor asked, panicking.
"I'm having contractions. Hurry, get me to the hospital," she gasped, her face devoid of color.
Given her age and the high stakes of the pregnancy, no one dared to waste a second.
