Lavinia pressed her lips together, remaining silent. Garnett refusing to leave today had already made her uncomfortable. How could she possibly choose a dress he gave her?
Charley stood up and said, "Both outfits are wonderful. I also had someone design a set, just to throw another option into the mix for the elders to consider."
As soon as he finished speaking, Zoey Wallace wheeled in a rolling garment rack. Hanging on the rack was an exquisitely designed outfit.
The top was a two-piece set; the inner layer was moon-white with a standing collar, the neckline accented with a single jadeite toggle clasp. Over it was a jade-colored surcoat with a modern, elegant cut. The bottom half consisted of sharply tailored pants.
The upper half was dignified and ethereal, while the trousers gave it a strong sense of power. The entire ensemble was gentle yet resolute, perfectly fitting the status of the Gilmore family's heiress.
The moment this outfit was revealed, it immediately overshadowed the other two.
Judith couldn't take her eyes off it and asked, "Charley, this color is absolutely beautiful. What is it called?"
"It's a classic traditional color called 'Jade Echo'," Charley explained. "In ancient times, when nobles traveled, the jade hung on the corners of their carriages to symbolize their status was called a 'Jade Echo'."
"A wonderful meaning, a great omen," Judith said, beaming. She turned her gaze to Lavinia. "Lavinia, do you like it?"
Lavinia felt a bit torn. She wasn't going to choose Garnett's outfit, that was for sure. But the white suit her cousin had gifted her—even though her grandmother said the color wasn't ideal—was still a heartfelt gesture from the eldest brother of the family. Could she really refuse it?
Yet, rejecting Julian's choice in favor of Charley's felt equally inappropriate. This was about more than just clothes.
Sensing Lavinia's dilemma, Judith patted her hand and said gently, "Lavinia, there's no rush. We still have several days. Take your time to think it over."
Lavinia smiled faintly and nodded. "Okay."
