The Man Who Never Looked Away novel Chapter 352

Except, she had no actual experience. There would inevitably be some discomfort—should she tell him that before they started? How would he react?

*Alright, I'll try to be gentle*—is that what he would say?

Lavinia's face started burning all over again.

Standing on the balcony, she suddenly realized her mind was entirely in the gutter and lightly smacked her own forehead.

She had read somewhere once that medical students were either entirely frigid or totally sex-starved. She used to think she belonged to the former camp, never giving that sort of thing much thought. Her terrible ex-husband hadn't touched her in two years, and she had been perfectly content with that.

But now, with Charley in the picture, she didn't feel so detached anymore. The last time they were at the villa, she had deliberately provoked him, and he had momentarily lost control. Deep down, she had actually felt pretty smug about it. Did that mean she was actually highly passionate, and it just hadn't been awakened until now?

"What are you doing?" Charley's voice drifted from behind her.

Lavinia jumped like a thief caught in the act, too terrified to turn around.

The familiar scent of him, wrapped in the warmth of the shower, drew closer. His voice murmured low near her ear, "Are you getting some fresh air?"

"I-I'm bringing in the laundry!" Every hair on her body stood on end.

Charley glanced at her completely empty hands and smiled knowingly. "I'm all done. Your turn."

He paused. "I'll get the laundry for you."

Lavinia's body stiffened like a board. She spun around and marched rigidly toward the bathroom, her arms and legs swinging awkwardly in tandem.

Unable to hold it back any longer, Charley laughed out loud.

In the shower, Lavinia instantly regretted not booking a professional body scrub. She'd read online about those intense spa treatments that exfoliated you until your skin practically glowed like polished marble. She felt like that level of dedication was the bare minimum she owed her first time.

She showered for a long time, constantly feeling underprepared, yet terrified that if she dawdled any longer he might actually fall asleep. Finally, she dried off, slipped into her pajamas, and stepped out.

Opening the bathroom door, she saw Charley leaning against the headboard. His damp hair was slightly messy, and he was wearing a midnight-blue silk pajama top. Under the thin blanket, his crossed legs looked exceptionally long.

Blushing furiously, Lavinia walked over and stood by the edge of the bed, enveloped in his familiar, woody scent.

Charley patted the empty space beside him. "Come up here."
