Footsteps approached. It was Charley.
Lavinia didn't dare turn around, afraid he would see her at her most pathetic and devastated state.
He stopped beside her, standing shoulder to shoulder as they looked out over Blossom City.
"The flowers are blooming beautifully," he remarked casually.
Lavinia kept her head bowed, thinking in despair that perhaps this spring would be the season her uncle passed away.
Unable to hold it in any longer, she covered her face with her hands.
A warm palm rested on her head. It was Charley again.
"I could have gotten the real P-Drug a long time ago," he said calmly.
Lavinia froze.
"The reason I didn't bring it to you is that the company requires the patient to travel to the Aethelgard Country to receive the treatment. And Latham's body simply cannot handle a long-haul flight right now."
He handed her a cotton handkerchief.
Lavinia took it, hastily wiped her face, and looked up at him.
"Does he absolutely have to fly there himself?"
"Yes. The patient must be there in person. They have to undergo extensive testing, sign numerous documents, and participate in their clinical trials for the new drug."
Lavinia's heart sank heavily once more.
"However, I just found out there's a workaround."
"What workaround?" Lavinia instinctively reached out, clutching his sleeve. "Charley, please don't keep me in suspense."
"Go to India," Charley said.
"India?" Lavinia was stunned for a second before realization hit her. "You mean... a generic drug?"
He smiled. "Exactly. Before the P-Drug even hit the market, a pharmaceutical factory in India successfully created a generic version. The company in the Aethelgard Country is currently preparing to sue them."
He raised his wrist to check his watch. "I've booked a flight for this afternoon. I'm planning to fly over and take a look."
"I'm coming with you!" Lavinia said urgently.
Charley looked at her. "You're coming too?"
He let out a low chuckle.
"The sovereign wealth funds of some smaller nations are indeed tradable."
"...That's massive business."
Boarding the plane, three flight attendants were waiting. Each was stunningly beautiful and impeccably elegant.
The head flight attendant stepped forward and bowed slightly. "Are you Ms. Wallace's friend, Mr. Sheffield?"
Ms. Wallace?
Lavinia glanced at Charley. Was that his wealthy female friend?
What kind of 'friend' would be generous enough to lend out a private jet?
Charley met her gaze, his lips parting slightly. She quickly looked away.
*Don't meddle in things that aren't your business. Don't ask questions you shouldn't ask.*
As long as they could get the medicine, that was all that mattered.
