The Man Who Never Looked Away novel Chapter 315

Charley froze as well, his lips pressed into a tight, thin line.

Lavinia snatched the hand towel off the table and shoved it over her face, her voice coming out muffled from behind the cloth:

"Charley Sheffield, look at what you’ve done! Thank god you didn’t use my full name, or I'd have to leave the country from sheer humiliation!"

Expressionless, Charley pulled out his phone and texted Zoey: "What the hell are you doing?"

Zoey replied instantly: "Boss, Lavinia must love it, right? I spoke the true feelings of your heart. How are you going to reward me?"

Charley looked up at the building across the river.

The words 'LAVINIA KISS ME' were still scrolling in massive letters across the screen.

*I should just block her,* he thought deadpan.

Then, he turned his head and looked at Lavinia.

The towel was still covering her face, but her round eyes peeked over the top, staring at the building in absolute horror.

Her face was as red as a little apple; even the tips of her ears were glowing pink.

She looked like she was genuinely startled, yet there was distinctly something else shimmering in the depths of her eyes—something bright and soft.

Looking at her, he suddenly lost his train of thought.

This light show was basically psychological torture. But at the end of the day, it was someone's heartfelt gesture—something he had arranged specifically for her—so she couldn't exactly look away.

Lavinia forced herself to watch the entire thing.

Her face was burning so hot she felt like she might catch fire, and her heart was racing like crazy.

Eventually, she couldn't take it anymore and buried her face completely against his chest, listening to his heartbeat while sneaking glances out of the corner of her eye. Anyone watching would think she was viewing a horror movie.

Charley looked down, resting his hand gently on the back of her head, soothingly stroking her hair.

The light show finally ended. Lavinia, covered in a light sheen of nervous sweat, kept her face buried in his chest, refusing to get up. Her voice was muffled. "That was terrifying."

"...It was my fault," he said softly.
