The Man Who Never Looked Away novel Chapter 266

"Garnett, have you been here before? What's good?" Sigrid asked softly.

Garnett didn't respond.

She looked up to find him somewhat distracted, his eyes pointed in her direction but seemingly looking right through her.

"Garnett?" Sigrid asked again.

Garnett snapped out of it, smiling faintly. "It's all good, whatever you like."

"It's my first time having Mexican food. In the States, everyone says Mexican food isn't exactly high-end," Sigrid laughed. "When did your tastes change? Didn't you always prefer French cuisine?"

He fell silent again. Sigrid found it a bit strange.

"That bracelet suits you," he suddenly remarked.

Sigrid gave a gentle smile. "I think it's gorgeous too. If my mom receives this as a gift, she'll be thrilled."

Garnett stared at the bracelet. He still remembered that morning at the manor, the sight of his grandmother personally sliding the bracelet onto Lavinia's wrist.

It clearly hadn't been that long ago, yet it felt like a lifetime had passed.

Garnett's eyes darkened.

Didn't she want his grandmother's jewelry? She wasn't his wife anymore, so what right did she have to covet those things?

"Sigrid, Lavinia and Charley are sitting over there," Garnett said.

Sigrid paused, glancing over her shoulder. Sure enough, she spotted Lavinia and Charley.

"Come on, let's go say hello." Garnett stood up, adjusting his suit. "Take my arm."

Sigrid didn't move. She had experienced Charley's sharp tongue firsthand and was a bit afraid of him.

Garnett looked back at her, his gaze flat.
