The Man Who Never Looked Away novel Chapter 264

She held the phone out to Garnett.

On the screen was a picture of a jade bracelet. The color was a rich, flawless emerald, with an incredible translucency.

Garnett's brow twitched slightly.

This bracelet looked remarkably similar to the heirloom piece his grandmother wore.

He took the phone. "This isn't cheap, is it?"

"A million, but it's fine, I have the money."

Garnett didn't say anything else. He picked up his own phone and tapped the screen a few times.

Sigrid's phone immediately chimed with a notification.

She looked down and froze.

One million.

"Garnett," she looked up, "I told you I had the money. I wasn't asking you for it..."

"Take it." Garnett started the car, shifting gears, his voice even. "It's a token of my respect for your mother."

Sigrid's eyes instantly welled with tears, and she offered a soft "Mhm."

Three days later, at the Harper Group headquarters.

Sigrid clicked into the chief secretary's office in her stilettos.

Corinne was sitting behind her desk reviewing documents. She looked up, and seeing it was Sigrid, offered a warm smile.

"Sigrid, what brings you here?"

Sigrid pulled a velvet jewelry box from her bag and gently set it on Corinne's desk.

"Corinne, I'm here to return this."

Corinne opened the box, revealing the jade bracelet inside.

"Returning it so soon?" Corinne chuckled. "Actually, maybe it will belong to you soon enough, Sigrid."

Sigrid replied, "I promised I'd only wear it for a few days, and I didn't want to make things difficult for you."

Corinne smiled, getting up to head to the safe. She entered the passcode, scanned her fingerprint, and placed the velvet box inside.

When she returned, her expression was even more relaxed.

"Sigrid, Mr. Harper is in his office. Go right in. He'll be very happy to see you."
