The Man Who Never Looked Away novel Chapter 174

Lavinia immediately fired back three question marks.

[??? Did you two have a fight?]

Charley thought about it. Regardless of how he felt about Saul, if she came to pick out the suit, he would get to see her.

[Fine, I'll be home waiting for you this afternoon.]

She sent back a smiley face: [Good man.]

It was Lavinia's first time seeing Charley's walk-in closet, and she was completely blown away.

The closet took up the entire third floor.

When the doors opened, the motion-sensor lights flickered on row by row, illuminating the space like a high-end gallery.

The suits were meticulously arranged by color. Every single one was custom-made, bearing no flashy logos, only his monogram embroidered on the inner lapel in matching thread.

The ties were rolled into perfect circles and nestled inside wooden drawer dividers, separated flawlessly.

The drawer holding the cufflinks was what surprised Lavinia the most. Some were genuine antiques—oxidized silver etched with intricate, faded patterns. It exuded an old-money vibe that felt entirely more sophisticated than Garnett's flashy collections.

"This is incredible," she murmured in awe.

"Pick whatever you want. Saul's about the same height as me," Charley said, glancing at Saul standing behind him. "Though his legs might be a fraction shorter."

Saul shot him a dark glare. This guy was definitely holding a grudge over that text message.

Lavinia walked deeper into the closet. It felt less like picking out clothes and more like touring a private museum.

Saul leaned closer to Charley, lowering his voice. "Be honest with me. When exactly did you start making a move on Lavinia? High school?"

"Earlier than that," Charley replied flatly.

Saul's eyes widened. "Earlier? Impossible. You didn't even know her back then."

Charley said nothing.

Lavinia walked back over holding a silver-grey suit and held it up against Saul.

"This one is great. It'll make you look youthful."

"I have an invitation, why wouldn't I be here?" Charley shot back.

Saul rolled his eyes. "You're like a piece of gum on the bottom of my shoe. I can't shake you off."

"Excuse me?" Charley raised an eyebrow.

"Would you two stop fighting? Mind your manners," Lavinia whispered.

A sudden commotion broke out near the entrance. Reporters swarmed the doors, their camera flashes blending into a blinding strobe light.

Murmurs rippled through the crowd nearby.

"Who is that? What an entrance."

"That's Garnett Harper, and his wife."

As the reporters parted, Lavinia saw the stars of the show.

Sigrid was wearing the exact same outfit from her magazine cover—the pristine white gown paired with the pearl necklace, bracelet, and earrings. She had her arm looped gracefully through Garnett's, who was dressed sharply in a white suit.

In this setting, they looked exactly like a bride and groom arriving at their wedding reception.
