94 Living temptation
As Nikolai gave a brief account of his past, Ophelia regarded him in silenc Tiana’s usage of the blood pearl to compel him to commit murder and ex mental control over him. She swallowed, feeling chills all over and slowly put her palm on his, which he grabbed hold of right away.
“I’m sorry you had to go through that, Nikolai.”
Anyone who has experienced even a fraction of what he had would surely go nuts. His plight tore at her soul. The person who was going to ruin his family took care of him.. his parents had neglected him so terribly. Even starvation was used as punishment for him. He was so young, he didn’t deserve any of that.
“It’s all over.” Exhaling, Nikolai rubbed his thumb around her knuckles. “I was alone, but not truly alone.”
“You had acquaintances?” Ophelia asked with a hint of astonishment in her voice.
“Yes. You can call them acquaintances.” Nikolai answered and smiled. He was truly delighted by her interest in him. She was hurting for him, he could see it in her eyes.
“Oh.” Ophelia nodded. “You must have learned something about my uncle if you were able to read Tiana’s minds while under control.”
Nikolai laughed. “You’re not upset that I almost killed your father, right?” “Actually, no, but if you had injured my brother, then definitely.” Ophelia laughed before abruptly gasping in realization. “I may have been in the castle on that day, oh my! Did we meet? Did we?!” She eagerly inquired. Nikolai blinked at her, his smile disappearing. “We didn’t meet on that day.”
the back of his finger.
“Tiana made use of the blood pearl. Esteban was a collaborator with her i her effort to harm my family in every way. He was aware of her influence over me.” Nikolai clarified.
“Esteban really did send assassins to kill your grandparents, but why?” asked Ophelia.
In situations like this, she didn’t feel the need to stand by Esteban and her father because she was confident in Nikolai’s honesty. She had participated fairly in her father’s and Esteban’s schemes.
It was true that her father just occupied the throne. The true ruler of Fireria was Esteban. Rodion had always appeared to be under his control, but her father was only driven by his own ambitions.
“About your return from Nexus, Esteban and Rodion were aware… I believe that someone else, besides Tiana, informed them about your return.” said Ophelia.
Nikolai nodded. “I guessed that,”
“Are you trying to find out? Things are rapidly turning dangerous. We also need to locate the blood pearl, Nikolai.”
She was eager and intrigued, and Nikolai could tell. She desired to protect him.
His lips curled into a smile as he stroked her cheek. If only she knew.
“I know. However, I don’t want you to participate in any manner. I’ve always desired tranquility and a routine existence with you, but I keep forgetting that I attract danger. To be completely honest, I frequently forget that I am

dangerous.” His eyes were whirling and softly gleaming as he muttered. “Ophelia, I am aware of your strength, but I do not want you to get involv because I do not want to lose you in any way.”
“Nikolai, you were tortured by Tiana from the minute you were born. You screamed constantly for help, but no one ever came to rescue you from Neither did I. However, I am here right now, and I will protect you, and protect you from yourself.”
“Ophelia.” Nikolai sighed. “My plans are already in motion, but you’re not included in those plans.”
“But those plans include my father and uncle. Those plans include Fireria.” Ophelia said sternly and made a small pout.
“Ophelia.” Nikolai called again, heaving a long sigh.
“Nikolai! I want to protect you too! Please.” She beseeched.
“No.” Nikolai let out a dry chuckle.
Ophelia frowned at him. However, just as she was about to speak, she yawned, covered her lips, and slowly blinked.
“You should get some sleep.” Nikolai muttered, brushing her hair away from her face.
“We should cuddle.” Ophelia smiled at him, his face brightened like a torch on fire.
At his reaction, she couldn’t help but giggle,

buttons undone, and the snake tattoo was visible at the side of his neck. Holding her breath at how powerfully attractive he looked, Ophelia pray that she would be able to overcome this living temptation.
Nikolai blinked at her, biting his lower lip. He was hesitant. “Are we just going to cuddle?” Along with wanting that, he also had some slight concerns about his ability to maintain self-control when being so close to
her.
“Yes.” Ophelia nodded in response. “Come.”
“Are you certain?” He asked with his lips pursed.
Ophelia raised her brows. “Wedding night, remember?”
“Why don’t we just get married now and get to it?” Nikolai complained as h moved toward the bed.
“Nikolai,” Ophelia mumbled, and couldn’t help but smile.
“You also want to wait till the night of our wedding? Instead of agreeing with me, you should have changed my mind! I really regret saying it.” He exclaimed dramatically and placed his hands on his chest breathing deeply. “Change your mind?” Ophelia laughed.
“Yes.” Nikolai crawled up onto the bed, slid under the blanket, and crept toward her. “Look here, Ophelia, it’s like being presented with a delectable feast and being told that you can’t eat until dinner time. I’m in pain, you must understand!”
In order to silence him, Ophelia giggled and put her finger over his lips. “Shush! Be patient. Isn’t the moon festival tomorrow?”
“Oh.” Indifferent to her finger on his lips, Nikolai sighed before grabbing her and grinning slyly. “Will you enjoy yourself tomorrow with me?”
ot want your way of having fun.” Ophelia acknowledged.
