In a split second, he released his grip from Danil’s neck and quickly grasped Viktor’s neck, his grip growing dangerously firm as his eyes flashed with seething rage. 1

“Are you aware of what you have done?” Dark wisps shot out of his body as he thundered. “I assigned you one task, but you decided to ruin it.”

Viktor gagged up, trying to grab Nikolai’s hands, his eyes turned into their yellow wolf-like form.

“Nikolai!” With disbelief in his voice, Danil called. He remained motionless, rubbing his neck and glaring at Nikolai, who was furiously strangling his brother. “What blood pearl?”

“The blood pearl won’t be brought back by killing Viktor.” Sasha cooed, taking slow, graceful strides into the training ground. Her eyes were a wolf-like shade of green.

“Fun destroyer.” Nikolai tsked, released Viktor and took a few deep breaths to settle himself before giving Sasha a friendly glance and a smile.

“Do you know of the pearl?” He softly enquired. He didn’t seem to be exhausted from trying to choke his cousins.

“That pearl holds dark magic, a potent manipulative magic distinct from your demonic abilities. Although it’s weak, from the moment you brought it back to the castle, I could tell.” Sasha answered.

“Blood pearl? Danil asked once more. “Aunt Tiana’s blood pearl necklace?” He was dumbstruck.

“I don’t think it’s wise for us to converse here on the training ground.” Viktor murmured while sluggishly rubbing his neck.

“It’s all right, I casted a spell to prevent prying ears.” Sasha spoke

confidently before putting her arm around Danil’s shoulder and focusing intently on Nikolai.

“First of all, I’d like to apologize for Boris and Danil’s behavior toward your mate, and I’m sorry I didn’t protect her as you had trusted me to.” Nikolai rolled his eyes at her as she muttered, her eyes trembling slightly with

remorse.

“Excuses solve nothing.” The wisps around him dissipated, and he tsked while putting his hands in his pocket.

“Is there a connection between the blood pearl and dragons?” Nikolai tilted his head in response to Sasha’s question.

“What aims do you pursue?” Nikolai drewled in irritation, despite having a smile on his face.

“Aiming to assist. Even though one of us-probably two-are trying to destroy the family, you have your own bizarre means of protecting, and this dysfunctional family wants to help.” Sasha whispered and removed her arm over Danil’s shoulder.

“The same thing was uttered by this imbecile.” Nikolai scoffed, referring to Viktor. His eyes abruptly assumed their thick demon appearance. “And to dispel any misguided notions you may have about me, I’m not attempting to save this family.”

“It will also be beneficial to us if we try to help you. By the way, I know you so well and no matter what, you would never ever give Viktor the pearl.” Sasha chuckled and watched as Nikolai’s eyebrows raised slightly in admiration of her assertion. “You foresaw that it would be taken, am I right?”

“Yes.” Nikolai answered directly before returning his eyes to their crimson wolf-like shape.

“So why did you strangle me?!” With a low growl full of rage, Viktor questioned.

Nikolai pursed his lips and cast a spooky, innocent stare. “I simply felt like it, I guess.”

Sasha rolled her eyes, Viktor’s eyes twitched, and Danil nearly facepalmed/

“Aunt Tiana, who secretly studied black magic, was the owner of the blood pearl. Under the noses of everyone, including her own husband Yakim Novikov and my ignorant, gullible father who is Alpha Alexander Novikov, she committed a number of heinous crimes with it. Tiana struck a bargain with the devil out of a desire for power and resentment over the fact that she wed the last son of the Novikov line, despite his status as chief warrior and this action resulted in a curse on our family.” Nikolai began, his eyes shimmering and whirling, his voice calm and blunt. “Overall, the bargain led to the sins of the parents to fall upon the children. This act changed the course of destiny for every one of us.”

“What?!” Danil exclaimed with a whisper.

“How do you know this… Nikolai?” Viktor asked, frozen with shock.

Sasha appeared to be as astonished as they were, but she remained silent and appeared to be buried in contemplation.

Nikolai grinned as if they were cracking jokes. He snarled subtly and his eyes grew uncomfortably wide.

“All of you are idiots. Particularly those idiots who are hiding behind the fence.” Nikolai shook his head, without looking at the fence where Yulia had been sitting before.

Curious, Danil cocked his head to the side and peered at the fence. He watched in shock as Pavel, Vladmir, and Boris leaped the fence.

Vladmir chuckled apprehensively while pushing his hair back. Pavel was

rather astonished, and Boris appeared enraged.

“How dare you?!” Pavel grabbed Boris’ arm and prevented him from attacking Nikolai.

“Fighting now is not a good idea.” He mumbled.

“Do you accept his claims?” With incredulity in his eyes, Boris demanded.

The two exchanged looks. “That children bear the consequences of their parents’ sins? Yes.” He gave a nod.

“I concur.” Vladmir grinned broadly and quickly moved up to stand next to Nikolai, throwing his arm over his shoulder.

“Why are you sharing your secrets?” asked Vladmir.

“If I don’t, they’ll learn when they get to hell.” Having snarled, Nikolai yanked Vladmir’s arm off his shoulder.

“How… Viktor was struggling to speak and pointed at Vladmir. “Did you mention anything to him?” He fired at Vladmir who gasped and retreated.

“Hell no!” Vladmir retorted angrily.

Viktor was speechless. “So how did he…

Boris and Pavel approached the scene. “What are you trying to say?” Pavel

asked Viktor.

“The only thing The Alpha and Luna informed us.. was how our grandparents had died. They were assassinated by golden dragons a night before Nikolai was born and nothing more. What Nikolai just stated makes too much sense and while it’s frightening to think that it must be true, how can he know such specifics?” Viktor found his words, but the shock was still audible in his voice.

Sasha squirmed. “Unless…”

“He conversed with the devil!” Vladmir suddenly gasped out his response Everyone except Nikolai snapped their gaze to him.

“What? It’s true.” Vladmir chuckled, shaking his head. “You are all stupid. assumed you must have realized Nikolai passed away before being transported to Nexus. And the fact that a powerful demon is following hi around is further evidence that he encountered the devil.”2

“That demon is the son of the devil.” Sasha murmured before returning to her innermost thoughts. 2

Boris’s eyes twitched. “You know, this doesn’t justify why Nikolai murdere my mother! He is inventing lies to persuade you all to forget that he murdered my mother!”

“All of this doesn’t add up to dragons either.” Pavel murmured gravely.

“Why are you not shocked by all of this?!” Vladmir’s face quickly went blan as Viktor yelled at him.

“I’m leaving here!” Boris screamed angrily and stormed out of the training ground.

Without saying a word, Danil grudgingly followed.

Sighing, Pavel turned to face Sasha, who was deep in concentration. He had promised her that until whatever war comes their way, he wouldn’t become involved in any of this.

“Figure this out.” He whispered to Sasha, Viktor, and Vladmir and left the training ground.

A cunning smile curled on Nikolai’s lips. The last thing he wanted to do was involve his family, but he was curious to see how far they would go to save them

sha questioned at last, swallowing forcefully as

though recalling a dreadful memory.

“You didn’t pass away, Nikolai; you just lost consciousness.” Viktor raised voice, his eyes widening as he addressed Nikolai. Tears slowly started to

Vladmir sighed. “Believe me, I cried a lot when I learned that he had pass away.” Then he shook his head.
