175 Sunstone (2)
After several hours, night descended on Mount Sidus, bringing a tranquil ambience that matched the calming breeze.
Even though the weather had lessened, everyone was sluggish that night and didn’t even twitch to speak about leaving the mountain.
While the others were talking randomly and lost in deep thought, Ophelia was sitting on Nikolai’s laps, sound asleep in his arms.
Every now and then Sasha would make fun of Vladmir’s current state, which would lead to them arguing and making the environment a little
livelier.
And just like Ophelia, Esmeralda had fallen into a deep sleep. The demon let her lean her head against his arm because he was seated beside her.
Lev mumbled suddenly as he looked out of that cave. “I guarantee that you are all going to continue the sunstone/discussion with no regard because it is a sacred stone.”
His statements made him the center of attention.
“Oh? Aren’t you a protective brother.” Rhaziel muttered flatly.
“You are being an ass about this, demon.” Sasha growled and stood up, crossing her arms over her chest.
“He was being reckless some hours ago.” Rhaziel scowled. “And I suggest you do not speak to me in that tone, lycan.”
Sasha’s eyes took on the shape of their emerald wolf–like form. “Do not speak to me in that tone either.”
“Enough.” With a low, dominating growl, Nikolai attracted everyone’s attention to himself.

Though he had his eyes closed, the fact that needless battles were irritating him was still evident. “Since we know it was used to subdue her wild side, we should avoid discussing it. It is clear from that information alone that the Firerian dragons have most likely discovered an even more incredible application for it than just against
Ophelia.” Slowly, he opened his swirling, dark crimson eyes and held Ophelia even closer. “Whatever it is, good or bad, I won’t let her return to Fireria.”
Lev’s eyes narrowed at Nikolai, taking on their golden reptile–like
appearance. How on earth could his sister have fallen in love with someone so dangerous? He found this annoying.
He stood up and tightened his fists. “It was like a disease. So unpredictable.” He started.
Nikolai furrowed his brow. “Unpredictable?”
“Disease?” Rhaziel grimaced.
Sasha gave Lev a wide look, but she quickly averted her sight to stop staring at him.
“She always cried in pain, her face was always covered in blood… And the urge to destroy everything in sight.” Lev proceeded and exhaled deeply. “Of course, she has her regrets.”
Silence.
Lev emerged from the cave, changed into a dragon, and took off into the sky.
“Ziel.” Nikolai called, and the demon gave him a bland glance.
“What?”
“When we return back to the castle, I want you to give me the heart of Yulia Novikov.”

“Huh?!” Sasha gave Nikolai a disbelieving gaze as she let out her shocked
cry.
Vladmir stood up and quickly shook his head to indicate that he disagreed with anything Nikolai was thinking.
“It’s so sudden.” Rhaziel said indifferently and leaned his head against the
wall.
A sly smirk twisted Nikolai’s lips. “It is, isn’t it?”
“What’s wrong with you Nikolai?!” Sasha asked vehemently.
Nikolai tilted his head, looking down at his wife who was fast asleep in his arms. “Nothing. I simply had the desire to say that.”
Vladmir facepalmed himself.
Sasha’s gaze quivered. She started to question whether or not being with Nikolai was truly a good decision. If he felt like it, he could kill, whenever and without cause.
“I need your voice, Vladmir. Find it, or I’ll yank your throat out of your neck and flick it.” Nikolai carried on.
Gritting his teeth, Vladmir gave a hesitant nod. It was absolutely time for him to speak up. If an old magic was to blame for this, he would have to use an even older and more powerful spell to break it.
Sasha let out a sigh and fixed her intense curiosity on Ophelia. “Nikolai, do you think whatsoever was awry with Ophelia when she was young…”
“It was already occurring before as well as after I erased her memories.” Nikolai interrupted, snapping his tongue. That anger within her had always existed. Her rage was a personality but had a foundation. And the impulse to obliterate everything in her path when the blood flowed from her… His hold on her tightened. Would she divulge the information? The word “Sunstone” had a profound effect on her.

“It’s unsettling.” Sasha murmured nervously as she peered out the cave.
Nikolai found himself nodding in agreement with her. He had no idea how much Ophelia had been through. Something nearly identical to him.
It was a never–ending list.
“Firestorm,” he said, bringing his lips to ear.
Ophelia’s lashes quivered, deep lines formed on her forehead. “Hmm…”
“Wake up.”
Ophelia’s hazel–gray eyes slowly opened to meet his scarlet ones. “Huh?”
