“What’s happening? It hurts.” Ophelia let out a cry, tears pouring from her eyes. The pain was almost more intense than the flames she felt in her nightmares.
Nikolai sighed profoundly. Of course, It was merely necessary for someone to destroy what was meant to be a joyous evening.
Gritting his teeth, he placed a kiss on her forehead and pressed his palm against it. A dark wisp slowly poured forth, knocking her out cold.
He took her in his arms and, with a heavy sigh, went to the bathing room to bathe them both. He replaced the bed linens, dressed her in a cozy nightgown, and carefully placed her on the bed.
As he put on his clothes, his countenance became solemn. Dressed in a loose–fitting white shirt and loose–fitting white slacks, he grinned mischievously, hoping to resemble an angel. The tattoo on his neck blinked open, then snapped shut when he stepped towards the bed and covered Ophelia with the duvet.
He bent down to give her cheek a kiss. “I
He bent down to give her cheek a kiss. “I will return. Some idiots wrecked our night, and I have to make sure that never occurs again.” Then he leant away, his fangs growing elongating. “They might be potent meals too.” He had not yet satisfied his thirst and…
He soon became aware of Ophelia’s heartbeat, which was rapid and thumping.
“Hmm… An exception.” He snarled and vanished, leaving faint dark wisps behind. He then reappeared in the royal room where he was greeted by the

presence of Vladmir, Viktor, Danil, and Boris.
Vladmir’s fist was clinched and his head was bowed
“Nikolai!” Startled by his ominous appearance and stare, Pavel retreated a
step.
Nikolai cocked his head, sensing something wasn’t quite right. It appeared as though Vladmir was being questioned but wasn’t providing them with
responses.
“He lost his voice.” He informed them without ceremony and quickly disappeared, emerging to sit on his throne.
Except for Viktor, who had a slight grimace on his face, they were all staring at him in shock.
“I was performing a divinely significant task for my survival. Actually, it’s the sole purpose of my existence and some idiots simply had to ruin it.” Nikolai spoke in a deep, sinister tone and despite his placid countenance, his eyes were full of wrath.
“How in the heck are you discussing this? I currently see that homicidal purpose in your eyes.” Boris remarked in slight panic.
“I’m just hungry.” Nikolai yawned slightly and mumbled. “And sleepy.” “What do you mean idiots?” Viktor inquired, arching his brow. “You’ve been away for two weeks, leaving me to handle all of your obligations! As I handled the paperwork, Alphas from several parks came to witness their new Alpha king, but they left disappointed! Nikolai, you disappeared for a whole two weeks, during which time strange things appeared everywhere over the capital.”
While Viktor was ranting, Danil was poking Vladmir’s neck chanting. “Speak. Speak. Speak. Speak.” Continuously.
Vladmir’s eyes twitched in anger.

“And the strange thing includes that crimson mist controlling the
werewolves to rebel against the new Alpha king which is you.” Pavel went on, making a contemptuous gesture. “It’s not surprising since you are bad luck to this family.”
Nikolai went utterly blank. “Now.” His tone dull.
“Huh?” Pavel asked, confused and the others except Vladmir whose eyes grew wide in panic, all narrowed their eyes at Nikolai in confusion.
At that exact moment, Sasha burst into the throne chamber panting heavily. “We are under attack!” She let out a scream.
Instantly, a dozen of red moon witches materialized in the throne room wearing red cloaks over their bodies.
“What the…” Danil snarled, his eyes turning into their blue wolf–like form.
“What’s going on Nikolai?” Sasha questioned, her eyes taking on their emerald wolf like form.
“I do not know.” Nikolai yawned and rose up to his feet. “There is one with the blood pearl. Please take it, my sweet Sasha,” and he disappeared, leaving behind a dense, dark mist.
Sasha nodded slowly. Though she was unaware of what was going on, she could sense the pearl’s presence.
Those werewolves… And that crimson mist that looked and sounded like a living being…. Was it connected to the blood pearl and the witches of the red moon’s abrupt appearance?
“What is happening?” Pavel questioned in total bewilderment.
Shocked, Boris glanced at the witches. “These are from my mother’s…”
“Hold it. We wish to avoid needless emotional recollections. Let’s simply murder them all.” Viktor growled and his claws shot out.

“Ahh?! How did you become so aggressive?” Danil chuckled, his dark flashing eyes shifting into thetr blue wolf–like shape.
“After I assumed the role of Beta.” Viktor hissed with full displeasure.
“Oh you’re going through so much.” Rolling his eyes, Danil materialized behind the witch, snapped off her neck, then tore it off with a single tug.
The Novikovs were totally unprepared for his abrupt onslaught, and the other witches became aware of it.
“Kill them!” Sasha glared at one of the witches as she let out a furious
scream.
“You!” Sasha raced towards her and grabbed her by the neck.
All the witches in the room were quickly eliminated by the Novikovs, with the exception of Vladmir. The witch in Sasha’s grasp persisted in attempting to use her magic, but Sasha was adept at negating every spell with a single glance.
“Enough.” She roared, slashed the witch’s head out of her body, and searched her body for the blood pearl. The magic sense of the pearl was flowing from her, but she could not find the pearl.
Viktor walked over to her. “Did you find it?”
Sasha released an oppressive sigh. “Something is happening. I’m having so much trouble making sense of everything right now that all I can do is ask unanswered questions.”
“I will explain everything to you but can you find the pearl?” Viktor inquired to be certain.
Sasha rejected the idea. “Not at all. This seems like a pointless trap.”
“Trap?” Boris asked as he tried to take in what they were discussing. “The blood pearl…”

“The instant that mist appeared, I was puzzled. I mean, since Nikolai became the Alpha King, there has been this organization of revolt. He is feared by all and is not seen as a capable leader. But, for the love of the goddess, that mist sprang out of nowhere!” Pave! lost his temper and kicked one of the witches‘ heads that was lying on the ground.
“Oh, please, stop acting as though you are concerned about Nikolai, Celestia, the kingdom, or any of us! Over the last two weeks, it has become evident that many people were aware that Nikolai was absent from the imperial capital, and since only those of us at the castle knew he would not be getting married here…. It was leaked.” Danil made his way to the throne’s steps and sat down with a lazy sneer. “There’s a mole in this bullshit family.” Sasha breathed deeply as she raked his fingers through her hair. “So, the only thing… this rebel group? Those werewolves they all looked like…” “They are miscreants. Outlaws. For the last two weeks, they have been wreaking unnecessary havoc. Robbery, abduction, sexual assault, and property destruction. The warriors who have been assigned to get rid of them… Not one of them ever comes back.” Viktor listed and sighed deeply.
“There’s no way those weaklings can just take over!” Sasha glared at each of them. “Why didn’t any of you take charge?!”
“To be honest, we didn’t know that they were that populated.” Staring at his bloodied claws, Danil mumbled. “And seeing that mist, we know that there’s someone behind the killings of our warriors.”
“And that being is affiliated with the red moon witches?” Pavel questioned, stroking his chin. “Are the witches of Red Moon truly our adversaries? They don’t have a reputation for being as aggressive.”
“But then, one of them was married to our family and turned our cousin into a psychopath.” Danil said sarcastically.
“Shut the hell up!” Boris surged forward to confront Danii and punched his
cheek.

Danil spit out the blood from his mouth, laughing, and shot a lethal look at the furiously breathing Boris. “Defending your mother when you know it’s true?”
mother!
“When did we begin protecting Nikolai? He murdered my Alexander is dead! Are we really supporting him because we think this magical crap is real? My mother had complete control over him. How am I supposed to believe that?!” He cried out. “If you all want to keep Nikolai safe, I will never, ever hang around with any of you! Given how dangerous he is, why protect him? Given how terrible he seems, why would you protect him? You all accept him and wish to shield him even though he causes so much instability and gloom in this family.”
“Enough with your childish ignorant yapping!” Danil stood up. His eyes flared with anger as he gave Boris a fierce glance. “How do you make sense of everything that has been going on? How?”
“Not a thing. There has been nothing going on! All of it is related to Nikolai! The one everyone wishes to keep safe! If all of you want to keep that dragon and him safe!? Don’t include me in it!” Boris hissed with immense
frustration, pushed Danil by the chest, and stormed out of the royal room.

Danil firmly maintained his position, giving Boris a furious sidclong glance. “He’s starting to irritate me with his clueless attitude.” @
“And you appear to have softened towards Nikolai. How unexpected.” Pavel mumbled rolling his eyes.
“And I am surprised you are here.” Danil gave him a sneer and turned to face Viktor and Sasha. “If there’s a mole existing between us, we will have to push that away and focus on the current threat.”
“Whoever set this trap.” Sasha let out a long breath.
Danil quirked his lips. “Celestia is always at risk when Nikolai is in danger. He is a ticking time bomb already. We can’t allow him to get controlled.” He clenched his fists. “I do not intend to lose my home and my family.”
“What is going on with you?” Viktor questioned, utterly shocked by his brother’s shift in perspective.
Danil shook his head. “Alexander.”
“Huh?” Viktor was bewildered.
Danil grinned but remained silent. For him, the demise of Alexander provided a fitting explanation for all that has occurred and all that is to
come.
“This is the work of two enemies who aren’t working together but have different yet similar objectives.” Suddenly, the room resonated with Rhaziel’s voice, and he entered with a blank expression on his face. “Why is a demon in a family gathering?” Pavel questioned haughtily. “Because he is family.” Sasha shot back. “Nikolai’s father to be exact.”

Sasha grinned at her own joke, and Vladmir, who had been silent the entire time, chuckled voicelessly.
“All told, he’s family. He has deep concern for Nikolai.” Sasha cleared her throat and looked at Rhaziel, who was staring at the witches‘ corpses with utter indifference, she sighed deeply. “You and Nikolai seem to know what is going on.”
“We are aware of nothing but the mist. The blood pearl’s essence is only a trap, and the red moon witches are unwelcome guests. An unforeseen snare.” Muttering, Rhaziel walked over to Sasha and gave her a white handkerchief, which she took gingerly and started to wipe the blood from her hands.
“If this is a trap, it means these witches are distracting us.” She gritted her teeth and murmured.
“Suicide.” Danil let out a breath and his eyes widened slightly. “Whoever is distracting us might be with the blood pearl right now.”
“But I can’t sense anything!” Sasha shuddered. “I will search!”
“And I will come with you!” Pavel abruptly turned to Sasha, and the two left the royal room together.
Viktor cast a sidelong glance at Rhaziel, who was apathetically staring at the corpses. “That mist, who is it?” He questioned, “And what is the insurgents organization?”
The demon gave him a quick look. “The crimson mist? That entity is quite old. To be precise, a deity.”
While Danil and Viktor were shocked, Vladmir’s expression hardened with those comments.
“A god?!” Exclaimed Viktor.
“A blood moon god.” Rhaziel answered bluntly. “He has a grudge on Nikolai

and he intends to pull it out by pulling Nikolai out of the throne at all cost.”
“A god has a grudge against Nikolai?” Danil questioned in utter shock before laughing uncontrollably. “How incredible! I am heading to bed. This chaos is why I left three she wolves all alone.” Subsequently, he left the room, murmuring in disbelief.
“How can this be? Because of a grudge?! A god controlled rogues to unleash havoc in the capital simply to remove Nikolai from the throne?! Do you know how difficult it is to make everything right?” Viktor growled angrily. “I know that I am the Beta but cleaning up such a mess the alpha himself
cre…”
“You’re the Beta. When the Alpha King is not performing his duties, that is your responsibility. Making complaints is merely an admission of weakness. Nothing further.” Rhaziel grimaced deeply, glaring at Viktor who was completely taken aback by his words.
“Seer.” Rhaziel summoned Vladmir, who was deep in meditation at the
moment.
Vladmir glanced at him and blinked./
“It’s not a serious threat.” Rhaziel gave a slight nod before leaving the throne
