The Lycan's Forbidden Mate novel Chapter 122

122 That absurd fate

At those remarks, Ophelia took a deep breath. Her heart skipped a beat before accelerating quickly, which she was sure he could hear.

Was Nikolai’s obsession with her healthy or pathological if it existed?

The person she loved was a glaring red sign, but she was color blind in a way that she feared she would come to regret. Really, would she?

“Were you in the city….” She trailed off, her eyes widening. “How did you know I was hurting?”

“You and Pain called for me.” Nikolai responded, blinking. “But I heard you

first,”

“We are now able to summon one another?” Ophelia gasped.

Nikolai guffawed. “Yes.”

“I like it.” Ophelia smiled.

He comfortingly called, “Ophelia,” and cupped her face.

“Nikolai,” drewled Ophelia. She cherished how warm his hands felt.

“Can I lock you in here?”

Ophelia smiled. “I promised you I wouldn’t allow you to give me Stockholm syndrome.”

“All I want is to protect you. There are troops in route to Celestia to capture you.” He suddenly disclosed.

Ophelia sighed. She ought to have seen this coming. A battle was inevitable at this point.

“I believe I should leave, just only to settle things for a little while.” She mumbled. “This is Esteban’s doing.”

“I’m not going to let anyone take you away from me.” Nikolai grumbled, shifted his weight away, then straightened himself. She couldn’t help but fix her gaze on him as his rich voice trembled with an avowed possessive tone.

“I just want to…”

“You are fully aware that he wants to kill you.” Nikolai growled.

Ophelia got to her feet and took a step towards him. “I told you that I want to avoid starting a war.” She stated firmly.

“Have you discovered the moles you’re looking for yet? Keep your attention here, where you can find them, rather than elsewhere.” He paused and let out a long sigh before picking up the dagger and giving it to her. “Darling,”

As she carefully gathered her dagger and watched it disappear from her grasp, Ophelia pursed her lips and sent a narrowed gaze at him. “Nik…”

“At the very least, let’s get married before another string of horrible occurrences strikes us.” Nikolai intervened and took hold of her hand, pressing his thumb to the wound on her palm that was still healing.

Ophelia nodded, sighing. “Very well then, but I do have a suspect.”

Nikolai smiled, knowing that Ophelia would never back down from ending whatever battle was building. If only she understood that he would be the one to start a war if anyone attempted to separate her from him.

“Anastasia?” Nikolai questioned with a raised eyebrow.

Ophelia snorted. “Why am I not surprised?”

“Given that she is a witch. You shouldn’t point fingers all over the place.” Nikolai murmured with a small smile as he put his arm around her waist and drew her in close to him until their chests were touching,

By their proximity, Ophelia felt her body heat up and her heart skip a beat. He was aware of his influence over her. He was attempting to use his

influence over her to encourage her to forget whatever was on her mind.

“I’m not making any accusations.” Ophelia mumbled, placing her palm on his chest. “You have things to do, so leave.”

“You’re chasing me away once more?” Ophelia couldn’t help but look at Nikolai when he asked with a deep, velvety tone that drew her attention.

“I’m not.” She outright denied.

Surprisingly, he let go of her. “Vladmir is standing at the door.” He

murmured and grimaced with resentment.

Ophelia restrained her laughter as she became aware of tiny, dark wisps coming from his body. She felt him stiffen when she squeezed his arm to comfort him.

“Hello!” Vladmir yelled as he banged on the door.

“Sasha is also here.” Nikolai moaned, pinching the skin in the area between

his brows.

“Just open the fucking door already!” /From behind the door, Sasha yelled.

“He’s upset with me. You open the door.” Vladmir grumbled.

Sasha opened the door and took a deep breath before meeting Nikolai’s eyes, which were cloaked in thick, black demon form.

“Does my room resemble an inn?” He questioned with a growl.

Sasha disregarded him and sprinted to Ophelia, yanking her away from

Nikolai.

Ophelia was taken off guard, as was Nikolai.

“What on earth do you think you are doing?” Nikolai growled and questioned, but before he could fully continue, Sasha and Ophelia disappeared from view.

Red flashed through Nikolai’s eyes.

“No, no, she’s OK! Sasha merely needs to double-check something.” Vladmir shouted, rushing to reach Nikolai.

“What?” Nikolai questioned angrily, giving Vladmir a homicidal glare.

Vladmir gulped. “It’s not always best to use force. I want my young cousin to return. frightening, certainly, but nevertheless… Not nearly this terrifying.”

Nikolai moved in his direction. “If you do not bring my wife back, you will witness the most horrible side of me.” He growled in a perilous manner.

Vladmir felt terribly small and got the chills.

He attempted to gather himself by clearing his throat. “I discovered the witch you were glancing at is your second mate. She has a smell that Ophelia lacks, and that scent is attracting you to her.”

“So?!” Nikolai hotly questioned. He attempted to teleport but was unsuccessful, and he quickly noticed that Sasha had used magic. A short-lived spell, in other words.

“You’re aware, aren’t you?” Vladmir questioned with a grave attitude and

voice.

“Aware of what?” Nikolai hissed. He was definitely unhappy with the

direction that this conversation was going.

Vladmir maintained his position, took a big breath, and spoke strongly. “You are aware that you are the child of doom.”

Suddenly, Nikolai’s lips formed a cunning smirk that matched his ominous, demon-like gaze.

“So?” he asked and took a stride in his direction, tilting his head to the side and glaring at him menacingly.
