Nikolai focused intently on putting his cuffs in his coat and took a deep breath, trying not to glance at Ophelia who was getting ready behind him. At that very moment, he wished he had eyes in the back of his skull.

“Can I make a turn?” He turned slowly and questioned.

Ophelia laughed, “You can.

“I..” “I..” She was already clothed when Nikolai turned in a joyful manner to observe her. His grin disappeared, replaced by disappointment. The thick black cloak she wore over her white dress completely obscured her. Her neck was also covered by the cloak.

“You just crushed every hope I ever had in life.” He murmured, lowering his head.

“Oh, don’t be dramatic.” Ophelia chuckled as she approached him. She slipped in the last of his cuff and put her hands on his strong shoulders, gazing at him with the same admiration he showed her.

His well coiffed, sleek, shining, and pulled back hair highlighted the features of his flawless sculptural face. She was the subject of his crimson gaze,

which was filled with admiration as well as a mixture of hunger.

“The bite mark.”

Nikolai cupped her face and hushed, “It means you’re mine, darling.”

“I’m concerned,” Ophelia mumbled.

Nikolai leaned in and said in a confident whisper, “I know. I won’t make advantage of the dark connection without your consent.”

“And I have faith in that dark mind of yours.” Smiled Ophelia.

“You have a way of making my heart skip a beat.” Nikolai cooed.

Ophelia guffawed. “Really?”

“Yes, my Firestorm,” mumbled Nikolai. “Will you miss me?”

“No.” Ophelia quickly responded.

“Lies.” As Nikolai moved in to kiss her, the door suddenly opened to reveal a grimacing demon.

With a furious groan, Nikolai turned his back on Ophelia. “Summon.” He informed her, but she moved away from him, turned away, and sprinted to

sit on the bed.

“Violence is not the solution,” She teased.

Nikolai sputtered. “Do you favor him over me? Hello, I’m your future

husband.”

Ophelia laughed and shook her head.

When Rhaziel approached Nikolai, he grabbed the royal black cloak off a chair behind Nikolai who scowled at him and snatched it from him.

“Avoid me.” Nikolai complained, placing the cloak over his body.

“Should I?” Rhaziel asked with a raised eyebrow.

“I’m no longer a child,” Nikolai grumbled.

“Unfortunately,” Rhaziel trailed off and put his hand on Nikolai’s shoulder. “To me, you are still a child.”

Nikolai frowned and pushed his hand away. “Let’s go.” He said and headed in the direction of the closet, opened it, and took out a pair of white, fluffy

mittens.

Ophelia was surprised.

Nikolai walked towards her and pointed the pair at her with a smile.

Shyly, her lips parted, “Than…”

“Don’t thank me; a husband should give his wife the heavens and the earth.” He cut in, caging her between his arms as his eyes transformed into their thick, demon-like appearance. “Hell sometimes.”

Ophelia held her breath unable to tell if those words were a threat or merely a statement.

“Go.” She mumbled.

Nikolai’s eyes changed back into their crimson wolf-like form “You are chasing me away?”

Ophelia heaved a long sigh. He was acting dramatic again.

“Rhaziel.” Nikolai’s eyes widened as if he had been betrayed when she hurriedly called.

“You..!”

Rhaziel grabbed Nikolai and dragged him to the door before opening it before he could finish his sentence.

Silence.

Pain nonchalantly walked into the room and laid down next to the bed. “I am your husband, not him!” Nikolai yelled dramatically at Ophelia, breaking the silence.

“Gods!” Ophelia laughed, burying her face with her hands and Rhaziel pulled Nikolai out of the room, slamming the door shut.

After Nikolai and Rhaziel left the room for the busy day, Ophelia was left alone with Pain, who was dozing by the bed. Her lips were pursed as she fixed him, recalling the nightmare the fire god had shown her the previous

evening.

She only had a single question. Was that a peek into what lay ahead for her?

She sighed deeply and turned to gaze at the white, fluffy mittens she was holding. She was prepared for the day and eager to visit Esmeralda, Viktor, and the tattletale seer. She had questions.

“Come on, Pain.” She said as she got to her feet and moved towards the bed.

The tiger phoenix peered out and followed her. Ophelia was astonished to see Viktor standing in front of her as soon as she opened the door.

“You…”

“We must speak.” Although Viktor appeared to be in good spirits, his voice was impatient.

“Very well, then.” Ophelia nodded before leaving the room, and Pain was close behind her.

“You missed the coronation after you disappeared in the forest.” Viktor mumbled as they made their way down the hall.

“How did you find out I was here?” asked Ophelia.

“Last night at the coronation, Nikolai was composed. You must have crossed paths last night.” Viktor said, and Ophelia wasn’t surprised by his genuine curiosity.

“I…”

Ophelia had already vanished from Esmeralda’s sight when Viktor and Vladmir arrived that night, but the dark fairy said nothing to them and returned to the castle without making any attempt to attend the

coronation.

Naturally, it struck Viktor as odd. Dragons are headed for Ophelia, while witches are headed for Nikolai. He was interested in learning more about

the bond that Nikolai and Ophelia had, and Ophelia was aware that this was what he wanted to discuss.

“We did.” Ophelia answered,

They all halted and Viktor sighed and turned to face Ophelia, who was unsure of how to react.

“You’re curious about the connection, aren’t you?” Ophelia inquired right

away.

“Look. If Nikolai is truly the “child of doom,” then you are the “dragon of dominance,” which means that you two are tied in a way that will ultimately devastate Celestia, and I want to try to prevent that. Before something terrible happens, you must leave Celestia.”

Ophelia swallowed and held the mittens tightly in her hands. “Nikolai is not

the child of doom.”

“I… Look. I’m just careful and protective of my home and my family. If you stay away from Nikolai, Celestia won’t be in danger.” Viktor reiterated. He appeared to be making an effort to maintain his composure.

Ophelia observed a discrepancy in him. “You genuinely believe Nikolai is the kid who gets used in legends to haunt you all when you make mistakes?” She asked with a sneer. “You sound absurd.”)

“You believe me! Do not act ignorant Ophelia Viadislav! You and Nikolai are destined to bring chaos which is why the gods and goddesses has their eyes on you two!” Viktor yelled louder and took a dagger out of his cloak, aiming it squarely at Ophelia’s stomach.

Ophelia smirked, rolling her eyes. “Ignorant?”

The wolves were after her, and the dragons were after her as well. Her options were limited. She was honest enough to admit her ignorance.

“You can choose to leave or I’ll kill you. Even if Nikolai kills me, I shall pass

away content knowing that Celestia is secure.” Viktor stated firmly.

“So I’m the villain here?” Ophelia questioned as she held the dagger by the steel, allowing it to puncture her skin.
